Noob Question: How do I know if my card is reference? - Page 2

I know visually what the difference is but I think mine is reference with a modified cooler. It looks to be the same as a reference cooler but with a difference shroud on it so it can support the detachable fan.

This makes no sense, you must have got it from the black market then.

The only difference I can find in mine and a reference card is that the 6 Pin connectors are move from the back of the card to outside (like the Palit version)

Yeah, thats my card. The only thing I can see different by just eyeballing it is that:

1. The 2 6 Pin connectors are on the outside of the card instead of on the end
2. B/c of number one, the mounting hole on the top corner is in a slightly different position than the reference but, every other thing is in the correct spot.

your card is what-ever you brought, in your case a Galaxy 460. Nothing less nothing more.. its not a mix of both, if so... they would have to say that its a reference card with an aftermarket shroud/cooler with our name on it. It's against the law to sell a card with your name on someone else's product unless they have permission and its noted in the product description. In one simple way, your card is not reference. Hope this helped

Lots of companies take ref. boards and put their own coolers on them.

So does this mean I need to look for non-reference GTX 460 coolers if I wanted one? If so, this will be hard

Then that should be stated. In some kind of way, Companies cant just take someones design and put their name on it without stating its not their actual card. Like i said above it's against the law...
