The TA890FXE is the best board hands down if you don't mind only having 5 SATA ports and a crappy layout. Other than that it's incredible.

If you want more bells and whistles with a better layout then get the 890FXA-GD65. I would personally get the Biostar though. I wasn't satisfied with my 790FX-GD70 or especially my DKA790GX Platinum from MSI. Asrock is still kind of meh and more of a gamble than the MSI/Gibabyte/Asus boards although the 890FX boards look okay.

the msi boards are known to be underpowered, running only a 4+1 power phase, there memory vrms are know to blow up because of this.

Hope you dont plan on pushing that hexacore to much, otherwise that board will probably pop.

I vote for the Crosshair IV formula, had one and loved it. Best AMD board I ever owned, and pushed my 945 to 4.0.

5 PCI-e x16 slots are not necissary for me. Selling points for me are sata 3, which all the 890fx motherboards carry sb850 so thats handled, and atleast 2 pci-e x16. I will be running crossfire.

This seems to come down to the Biostar TA890FXA and the M4A89GTD or TD, depending on price difference at the time. So what would be the largest selling point on either one? How close are they? Btw, I will need maybe 4 SATA ports so the ASRock wouldnt be that much of a seller... thnx for the option though.

PS: I didnt get to see the price of that open box formula, but I like the formula. It was sold out when I got a chance to check out the link... damn. Thnx tho

Last year, I bought an open box M4A89GTD PRO/USB3... its not the 890FX; but its the 890GX...

Aside from not getting any of the drivers with it; I got lucky and it came with all the other accessories. Just had to download the Drivers from Asus' website, and lucjily just a few months later my Roomy asked me to rebuild his aging system and bought the same through Retail, so I burned a copy of his disk just to have it.

I got lucky and got a great deal on the one I bought though, and its proved to be a rock solid board. So if the 890FX version is available (M4A89TD- PRO/USB3) then go for it, as it would be perfect for your price range.

Otherwise, hold out a little longer for the 990GX/FX to come out, should be within the next couple months and when it does, it will push the price of the 890's down a little more. Honestly, I jumped the gun on my 890GX when I bought it, when I really wanted the 890FX but got impatient waiting and working on a budget, I jumped the gun and ordered the open box 890GX. Glad I got lucky with it though!
