460 SLI or different card?

Thread Starter
I am running an ASUS 460 Top right now, should I just buy another one to SLI or sell this one and switch to a 570 or 580? Want the best performance for the cost. Really can't figure out which one is the better route.

Thanks

Gtx 460 sli is equal to an 580. But once you go that route its pretty much the end. I would sell the 460 and get a 570. More bang for the buck

Getting a second 460 will be the best choice since you will surpass a single 580. Not to mention you can run Nvidia Surround later on should you decide

Yeah, surround sounds awesome with 1gb of memory.

Sell your current one and grab a higher end card. Two is as fast as one is cool and all but one must be pretty bad ass if it takes two cards to match it.

how?

he sells his 460 and has a 570, and later he gets a 570, and that's, to quote you, "pretty much the end", so in other words he'll never double up on cards.

frankly i'd get another 460 like the one you have and later (2 years or so) sell them and get a new single card which will be about as fast or faster than what you have

GTX 460 SLI is actually faster than a GTX 580. Dig out the SLI reviews for those cards and you'll see they're about 50% faster than a GTX 480.
if selling your 460 and getting 580 costs you close to just buying another 460 then get 580

Try a GTX 560Ti SLI

The card I have is 210 or so shipped to buy another one. It's not but 3 or so weeks old, but I don't know what would be reasonable to ask for it. If I bought another one I would have 420 or so in two 460s. 480 or so I'm guessing is what I would have in a 580 and I'll probably never run 3 monitors so that's why I'm not real sure what to do. The 580 would probably buy me 4 years or so if I upgraded to a second in a couple years.
