Help me pick my ~$500 Upgrade!!! - Page 2

My last $500 upgrade was replacing my 3 23" 2048x1152 displays with a Samsung 30" 2560x1600 display off eBay for $569. I still haven't sold the 23" displays but I plan to sell at least one of them. After that it'll probably be only a $400 upgrade. But my ranking considering what you already have is display, ssd, case, and next not another card to SLI with. I've been running a 470 sli setup for a while, during my time with the 3 23" displays. Moving back to a single gpu setup alleviated many of my issues with the GPU. No longer have issues with waking up from S3 and having to restart because the screen is not getting any info, driver issues in some games, and I haven't encountered one game (granted I've only been using DS2 and CODBLOPS) that couldn't run on a 2560x1600 at full settings.

You're on one monitor, will another 570 really give you a noticeable boost? I would think it's not worth the price. An SSD would be noticeable improvement, though. And.... I really like my U2410?

I would have said upgrade to LGA 1155 + your SSD, but... mass recall happened.

OP -- I was in your shoes as well, I was going to drop about $500 on an upgrade for my system (It's all in my sig and haven't updated it)

You have a crappy monitor, so dont' get SLI -- You won't see any benefit out of it. You don't have a very good CPU, either.

I'd get the 800D and the Rasa kit, both are amazing and I have them as well.

Or, I'd get a bigger/better monitor, but not THAT monitor, and an SSD, 90GB

Exactly. A smaller 1080p monitor > a huge 1080p monitor (looks at sig, sighhh) Pixel density is higher..
Is it small, yes.. Is it too small? Not even. And sadly 1200p monitors are a dying breed.
And he WILL notice a boost in games going SLI, even on his "crappy" monitor..
Also the SSD is the biggest part of the upgrade. SSD > Most upgrades.

since when is a 22inch monitor too small? I thought that 22inch was like right around perfect. I mean 1920x1080 looks great on a 22inch. that is the perfect res for that size monitor.

maybe your eyes just can't handle the sheer level of detail, I mean look at cell phones now, those are even higher density then 1080p at 22inches.

Um....

I sit literally 1.5-2feet from my montor. I cannot deal with multimonitor setups due to the bezels (I've tried them at a friends lan for a few hours and still had issues) as well as my glasses affecting my view of the outer edges of the screens.

I can see everything on my screen just fine. Just planning on an IPS panel down the road due to the better color reproduction for the times I need it.
