Help me pick my ~$500 Upgrade!!! - Page 3

I'd go with monitor and a SSD, Once you go IPS and SSD a TN panel and HDD are difficult to tolerate.

its really going to depend on whats more important to you.

the 570 and ssd will be the biggest performance gain as stated above.
the monitor you use is fine in my opinion. (i game most of the time on my 19")
the 800d and rasa kit are also a good idea. im sure on water you can push your oc some more.

if it was me personally i would go with the 800d and the rasa kit and an ssd if you can make it a $550 upgrade

Is it small, yes.. Is it too small? Not even. And sadly 1200p monitors are a dying breed.
And he WILL notice a boost in games going SLI, even on his "crappy" monitor..
Also the SSD is the biggest part of the upgrade. SSD > Most upgrades.
How about what a 1080P monitor screen size SHOULD be. AKA 24''

I generally go for the "bigger is better" mentality, but only up to a certain point. The larger the size of the LCD panel is for a 1080p monitor, the larger the pixel pitch which means the less sharp the image can look. The difference is very, very minor -- In fact, so minor the naked eye can't even tell.

To me 1080p on a 22"/23" monitor is a bit small for such a high resolution. However, the distance between my eyes and the monitor is generally between 23" (sitting up right) - 30" (slouching a little bit and leaning back).

You also have a much better selection of monitors at the 24'' range than you do the 22'' range.

Though, I do agree that the SSD is the real logical choice of an upgrade. So like I said, get an ssd and a bigger monitor for that resoultion

How about instead of everyone arguing with me.. Why not read what the OP is saying, Try to help him out I know crazy right?
He is fine with his monitor he has now.. Does NOT want 3 monitors, Is going to be upgrading later anyways.. Seems like the logical choice now would be to future proof his GPU setup, And go SSD which I will say again is a HUGE upgrade.. Why I even have to tell anyone this is beyond me.

So, him wanting to upgrade his monitor makes him enjoy his monitor and doesn't want one?? Who stated he wanted 3 monitors? Who said he DIDN'T want 3 monitors?

Where did he state he is going to be upgrading? outside of the obvious $500 upgrade

Right now, on his setup, the GTX 570 would play EVERY SINGLE GAME just 100% fine. Him getting sli will NOT give him much of a boost at THAT resolution. He will see a boost in maybe crysis, and that's it. And if you really wanted to get technical. The monitor doesn't see more than 60FPS anyways... so...

I also believe the 955 will be bottle necked by SLI with those GPU's

On the contrary, the SSD is the biggest upgrade he could do.

PS. No one is trying to argue with you, but you're putting words in everyone's mouth

EDIT: Get the SSD for sure -- Spend the rest of the money on another item, a bigger monitor for better gaming arousal, or the 800D case since it's a hella nice

I can see everything on my screen just fine. Just planning on an IPS panel down the road due to the better color reproduction for the times I need it.

You just made it 100% obvious you have not read the thread even a little bit..
And a 955 ( former owner, w/ SLI 470's ) will NOT bottleneck those cards but maybe a smidge... I see my 570 studder in some games with the settings maxxed even at 1080p.. LOOKING TO SLI ASAP !!!!
You dont own a 955, a 570, or a SSD... I cant even take your opinion seriously..

I own a core i7 920, a GTX 580 and I do not have an SSD, but I have one on order since it's a nice upgrade

I have also (now) read the whole thread 100%. Didnt' see the OP post something.

Don't take my opinion seriously, I hope the OP doesn't take yours, either

EDIT: Not trying to be a douche -- But he did say he was open for suggestions on what he should upgrade. I dont' deny that those 2 are performance increases if it could all be utilized.....

Like I said, get the SSD for sure -- Another 570 isn't doing much for that Resolution nor that CPU. I came from the Q9450 and overclocked it to 3.8ghz and it was bottle necked by 2x 4870's / 5870. I had to upgrade to core i7 920 to not have it bottlenecked anymore
