"Wax On — Wax Off": (Folding Service Control)

Thread Starter
Okay. This is my first day of Folding so, please… cut me some slack.

Here's my question: Is there a less cumbersome way of switching Folding on or off, other than via Windows' Computer Management?

The following is a screenshot I recently took that will (hopefully) depict what I currently must do to interrupt the Folding client:

Please understand: I want to donate, to the fullest extent, my PC's computing power, however limited it may be, to this most worthy of causes. At the same time, I'd prefer to have a tad more control over when this functionality will occur.

Forgive my ignorance; I'm simply wondering as to whether or not there's a more elegant solution for determining when, and to what extent, this PC will crunch the numbers necessary to assist in this Folding endeavor.

Yes, there is.

Don't run the service. Run the console client. You can close that whenever you want

You're running in service mode...

You could just use the standard console client. That can just be closed by closing the window.

Hmm... okay.

As you might have witnessed in the screenshot (note the two newly-created batch files on my desktop), I'd tried to follow the instructions laid out per this link, to no avail.

When you mention the "console client" to an amateur like me, it tends to go completely over my head. Could you please be a bit more specific?
