I am very new to this... Please help.

Thread Starter
Hello,

First of all I would like to thank those of you who took the time to look at this thread.

Thank you.

I am looking to building a gaming rig as close to $700 as possible. I know it is a tight budget but I also hear that the best minds come together here at overclock.net

I would prefer Intel based. And a case I have in mind is the HAF 920. But the problem is other then that I don't really know much more to look for.

Again, any help is appreciated

Do you have a Video Card in mind?

Are you going to overclock?

With $700, I don't know if you can build anything better than an i3 or a cheap i5. AMD may be a better option as you can get more "bang for your buck" with AMD at that budget.

No no don't get biostar. Get something ASUS or EVGA. Trust me you'd want a good motherboard for a long time. I know NOTHING about biostar and i think it's a cheap crappy motherboard dude.

If you know nothing about Biostar, why would you recommend against it?????

Wonderful argument based in ignorance.
You said yourself you know nothing of Biostar. So pipe down and let those of us who know what we are talking about help out.
Biostar makes a solid board. Its not ASUS level quality but on a budget its one of the best choices.
That board or the one I have are some of the best Budget level boards on the market today.
Biostar motherboards are fine. If you are looking to push your system to the limit go with ASUS or MSI. If you are looking for a cheap board that wont let you down and will give you moderate overclocking potential go with Biostar.

The build Recommended by ghost_z is probably the best you will get at your price range. And he is correct about getting a Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB.
