BSOD Help

Thread Starter
Ok I over clocked my rig ran 12hours of prime95 and there were no errors, this worked for 1 week straight and then the other day after 30 minutes of playing WoW my machine crashed and my disk 0 of a Raid0 shows offline. After frustration i reloaded everything and did more prime95 testing this time longer with no errors. Again after playing WoW for 10 minutes I get a BSOD and disk 0 is offline again. Is my OC causing this or is the disk just bad? Any help would be appreciated, starting to load my machine again this time with no Raid

open command prompt window and run this:
"chkdsk c: /r/v"

It will make sure the filesystem is in tact.

You could also run this:
"sfc /scannow"
which is the system file checker. It is essentially like a repair-install lite and will verify all the Windows files are working.

are you using onboard raid?

Boot to a UBCD (ultimate bootcd) and read the SMART data for the individual drives. it could be possible that one of the drives is failing

It's not uncommon from what I've read either for a processor to stay stable during prime then crash in games. There is a thread floating around somewhere about it. Solution was to up the voltage a little bit.

I am using onboard, that is what I thought, I made a disk image before this crash so I am restoring it to the one drive that has not gone offline, I will try the UBCD after the restore, what will the SMART data say if it is failing, sorry never done that before

I had the voltage at 1.4v and moved it to 1.47v for the last test/crash I will test it without raid and if it crashes again I will up the voltage some more

I have no clue as to the voltage handling of your processor but I'd made make sure I kept it in the safe range. Better to step the speed down a notch than burn everything up.

Ok, read the SMART data and it said everything is fine, doing some testing with only one hard drive before I decide what to do next
