[ZeroPaid] Sony Demands IP Addresses of YouTube PS3 Hack Viewers - Page 18

*sigh* There's really no use getting through to these people. Their slanted point of view only allows for FUD and hatred. Once Apple was the bad guy, now it's Sony. Not once have I seen abhorrent hatred for Microsoft in these forums, yet they're guilty of way more than any other tech company out there of ACTUAL crimes.

I'm done with these Sony threads. When you people decide to grow up and think rationally, wake me up.

I think you should rephrase that as: When Sony decides to grow up and think rationally, wake us all up.

The point is that Jailbreaking is nothing more than an aftermarket mod, just like overclocking a processor or running Windows on 8GB of memory is.

MS has been out of the firng range because companies like Apple and Sony have so boldly stepped forward to take the flack for their own Evil Empires. MS is just less evil than before - probably because Vista was Ballmer's baby, and that thing was stillborn garbage all the way...

This is more entertaining than television. They should make more TV shows like this.

So I heard Justin Bieber got his own movie, you guys think Hotz is going to get his own movie?

I don't even own a PS3, LOL. But I find Sony's actions amusing, yes it's wrong to demand the IP's of the people who watched the Youtube PS3 firmware hack videos. Someone posted a link in here and I watched it, so what? Doesn't mean anything. Consoles aren't my thing, I'm pretty much retired from consoles. XBOX360 collects dust and I keep playing with my PC. I have never bought 1 Bluray movie, funny thing about that I'm still waiting for affordable prices for the movie discs and players. Maybe another 4 years before Sony drops pricing to DVD levels?

I wonder if Sony is going to come after me now and get my IP address because I watched a video on Youtube. If they're looking for my IP address can you guys tell them I can be reached at 127.0.0.1.

But you know what I find funny? There's a crap load of hack tutorials for the PS3 firmware on Youtube that is dated like January 11th and today is February 10. How come the videos haven't been pulled yet? It's just like you and me overclocking our processors. I hope Intel doesn't come knocking on my door to arrest me if I overclock my 2600K just a little bit. Sony should take some lessons from XBOX360, just ban people's consoles that are modded.

Breaking the PS3's security key is not "jailbreaking" it like you jailbreak an iPhone.

i'd like to bring up a couple points that already have been made i'm sure.
1: dont punish your consumers, who buy your products.
2: every console is hackable; provide incentives to go legit.
3: legally enabling this kind of nonsense is tantamount to corporate suicide
4: next day service on jailbreaks indicates that sony cannot fix this untill there's a hardware revision.

One again, more bad analogies. This is nothing like that. NOTHING.

Evil empire, how is that? They aren't doing anything evil. You think they are evil because they are protecting honest people? You think they are evil because they are trying to keep things fair? Your idea of evil is twisted, and I feel really sorry for you. I know the world grows corrupt, but for a person to be able to say doing the right thing is evil is quite disgusting.

How is that even close to this? I wish people would stop comparing this to completely irrelevant things.

I think their objective in this is to have a smaller amount of IP's they have to check and target them to see if their PS3 has been modified. Not all IP's are static so they will check the non-Dynamic IP's when they connect to the internet via PS3 and disable their PS3?

My first reaction to this was to immediately go and download the kmeaw hack so that if I ever get a ps3 I can hack it. LOL. Even saved a site with directions and I now have everything I need to hack a ps3. COME AND GET ME SONY!

I don't believe this was the desired effect sony wanted. hahah.
