[ZeroPaid] Sony Demands IP Addresses of YouTube PS3 Hack Viewers - Page 27

I say everyone just needs to repost this at every opportunity they can.

I mean how many people can Sony sue?
I'm not sure that I watched it, maybe a glimpse of it because it was posted on OCN but I don't even own a PS3...what are they going to do?

Oh, I understand all you've said. I just don't agree with you on everything.

You're not one of the many that I'm referring to; you've agreed on a few topics about what is legally right or wrong; your views are just more on what is ethically right or wrong.

Those articles were for cracks in general, I didn't look for any related directly to the OS option. Apparently though, the OtherOS was a loophole in their security, and they removed it to keep it secure. Which, like I've said before, would be ironic if the otherOS option was actually the reason Geo cracked it in the first place. Though, that is just an excuse, he didn't crack it "to bring back" OtherOS. In his hiphop video there is a slim version of the PS3 in the background, which never had OtherOS.

I honestly doubt suing the guy, or collecting IP addresses from YouTube, is the "most efficient" action. Honestly, even "just tell us how you did it, stop doing it, and we'll give you your otherOS & be done with it" might have worked better.
They didn't have the chance. Geo released the keys, then asked for a job from them. That isn't exactly smooth.

True, but that is more for the programming team. I'm talking about the legal team.

I see what you are saying, but that is a bit ridiculous. A company shouldn't roll over in fear the retaliation would be worse. To stop piracy, you have to act. Acting on such will piss off pirates. A pirate is going to pirate, pissed or not. So, haters gonna hate.

I know, I know. Others may not believe it was valid, others do. If you had to make a decision that would effect 100 people, would you pick the option that would effectively help 51 people or 49? The personal opinions of the 49 is irrelevant. I know that may sound harsh, but that is the way everything works. The majority rules, it better benefits more people than it hurts people.

I don't know man, have you been reading all the other threads about this? It is quite ridiculous.

The best decision would be to fool both sides through diplomacy, as it actually occurs most of the time.
