Please Help me load windows (newbie)

Hello all,

I really need all of your help! im a novice when it comes to computers so please dont hate me too much

My old pc died so i decided to have a go at building a new one which i also thought would help learn more about them,

the build itself went fine but when it came to turning on the system and loading the OS i must have done or not done something

when i turn it on a logo of the MB shows up and at the bottom it has tabs for bios ect for a second then a black screen saying loading operating system

I inserted the disc that came with the motherboard and nothing happened so i tried the windows 7 but again nothing (waited 10mins)

Any help with loading these up would very much appreciated, I look forward to learning from you all and i apologise for not being more computer minded

Oh the programs i have are
windows 7 64bit and a gigabyte disc that came with the GA-H55N motherboard

Hey, welcome to OCN.

1. Turn on your PC. Insert the Windows 7 disc in your PC.

2. Turn it off.

3. Turn it back on, this time stay on the look out for the BIOS splashscreen. (A gigabyte logo or motherboard model.) Look for something that says "F10- Setup" the key want always be F10. It could be F8 or Escape. Anyways, it should be located down the bottom of the screen. Maybe in a corner.

4. Then goto a tab in the BIOS saying "Boot Order" or Something to do with storage devices.

5. When you find it, make sure its set to boot of a disc. Then check your Hdd is displayed correctly. (Maybe your ram, if you know what that is )

6.Hit F10 to save and exit.

7. Turn off again, this time again looking at the BIOS splash screen. Look for something that says "Boot Priority" or "Boot Order" press the corresponding button.

8. Select your DVD drive.

9. Hopefully it will boot into Windows Startup.

Hope that helps, if not. Check your system incase anything Harddrive/DVD drive related is not installed correctly. Or its another issue.

You need to boot into the Windows 7 startup disc.

But if you cant do that. Check your hardware is attached and correctly installed.

Can you be more discriptive? What is "exactly" happening?

Welcome to OCN also!

thanks alot for the help Nutty,

it worked but now when i start to load windows7 i get to this part except mine isnt showing disc unallocated space, the box is empty
in bios i can see my hard drive so im guessing thats not the problem

it saying no devices found, i tried clicking load drivers and nothing happened so i put in the disc that came with the motherboard and clicked load again but nothing

so atm im stuck at that page

No Problem man, glad that worked!

Thus makes it abit harder.

First, just try a simple reboot back into the Windows Setup.

Second, if the problem still exists. Its a problem with a setting in your BIOS.
Boot back into your BIOS, and Look at all the HDD settings. Can you tell me what they are? (All BIOS are different.)

Edit: its probably under "SATA operation." Change it to IDE or SATA, or autodetect. If the problem persists post what the options are in your BiOS.
