P8P67-M limiting OC?

It seems I'm hitting a wall @ 4,7GHz with my 2600K. I've been running some seemingly stable Prime95 blend & FFT at roughly 1.34 Vcore with 100x46 on this machine but somehow the thing freezes at the Win7 boot whenever I set it to 100x47. It tries to load windows, you see the black screen with the coloured windows logo pieces flying around, something clicks, usb devices turn off and its frozen. I've tried increasing voltages up to 1.4V Vcore, disabling HT and setting RAM speeds to 1333Mhz with no success.
Temps seem sort of okay with 18° idle, 50° in blend and 60° in FFT given the slim fans I have to mount due to space reasons.

From bits and pieces on the net I've read that high multi settings require this PLL overvoltage option, that I can't find anywhere in my BIOS. The voltages for 100x46 @ 1.34V seem moderate from what I've seen around here. Does anyone have any advice what I could try?

settings:
BCLK Freqency: 100
Memory Frequency: 1866Mhz 9-10-9-27 stock values
Internal PLL: can't find this
EPU Power Saving Mode: can't find this
Turbo Ratio: 47

CPU Power Management:
CPU Ratio: Auto
Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology: Enabled
Turbo Mode: Enabled
Additional Turbo Voltage (ATV): 0.08
All other settings on Auto

Offset Mode Sign: +
CPU Offset Voltage: 0.005
DRAM Voltage: 1.500v
VCCIO Voltage: 1.05v
PCH Voltage: 1.05v
Load-Line Calibration: Disabled
CPU Spread Spectrum: Disabled

More Vcore is most likely required. Unless your offset is a typo.

I use 1.35v for 4.5GHz, although I can easily run wPrime, IBT and Prime at 1.3v Single threaded apps still crash without more voltage.

Have you updated your BIOS? I have the pro version of this board, but I was stuck at around 4.7GHz until I got off the BIOS it shipped with.

Also the BIOS it shipped with didn't have the PLL Overvoltage option you're looking for, but all the newer ones do.

Nope the offset is not a typo. The voltage regulation is a pain on this board. The offset of the cpu has to be set to something as 0 means auto. Someone said it's base voltage + offset + turbo voltage but that doesn't make much sense since base voltage seems 1.2V and 1.2 + 0.005 + 0.044 doesn't add up to 1.34 or I'm being utterly stupid here.

I updated to the second available bios ver 408 that claimed to fix some stability issues. There is a 503 bios listed in another thread here but I can't find any information about what it does. Also since all shops stopped selling LGA1155 boards two days after Intel announced their buggy southbridge I'm a bit hesitant to just flash something into the board. Then again, wasnt this board supposed to have dual bios?

The voltage settings stuff is a pain on the Pro too. You can take a look a tthe thread in my sig for the experience of Pro users. I dunno about for a 2600k, but on my 2500k I needed >1.4v to get past 4.7GHz.

I would seriously consider flashing to whatever you can find, though, unless you're happy sitting at where you are now. Mayyybe the PLL option will only ever show up on the Pro boards, but maybe not.

You could also try enabling LLC, but be aware that the LLC on these boards will dynamically increase voltage based on load. So if you do turn it on I would set your ATV back to 0.004 until you find out how much voltage it's going to pump through under LLC.

I just realized that I got that voltage regulation stuff out of your excellent guide over in the M Pro thread. Initially I had all voltage regulation set to auto and ended up with 1.4V for 4.5Ghz which was pretty much horrible. Then I found your guide and tried the sensible aproach. Thanks for gathering all that info!

I'll have to decide over a pizza wether I'll take the plunge. Somehow this thread is the first on google about that bios file. Seems there are a lot more M Pro owners out there.

Curiosity got the better of me and I updated to 503. Afterwards nothing exploded but EZ-Flash was gone from bios. Also the OC Profile thingy didn't have names for the profiles anymore, just slots.
PLL overvoltage was nowhere to be found, the rest looked like on 408. Cross grading back to 408 via AI Suite got EZ-Flash back but the rest still looks like 503.
I'd say, don't use the 503, it's probably pre-production or something as my bios screen now says the bios is from 15. dec 2010

Does anyone know a parameter for the dos based Asus Bios Updater 1.22 to forcibly downgrade to an older bios version? AI Suite 2 offers the downgrade option but only when using Update via Internet and it can't find files on the selectable servers.

Yikes. Sorry I don't know how to get the DOS BIOS updater to downgrade for you....

Hopefully an 06xx will come out soon. It was 0414 that added PLL for me, not sure if 0413 has it as it came out after and I never used it.

Unfortunately, it's not all that surprising that a non-enthusiast board is giving you some trouble getting a decent OC....

However, looking at your sig rig it's also entirely possible that 480W isn't enough to OC too far....

Oh don't worry, at least I can still use this machine. At some point when the fixed boards are available I'll send mine in for repairs and hope they completely replace it or force-flash some then released bios onto it in the process.
Searching brought up that Asus sets some "cannot downgrade" flag when they fix some critical things in their bios files. Some other people over at their forums complained that they flashed in a beta bios, got some screwups later and could't go back with BUpdate. Afudos in some engineering version could do it but that tool doesn't work with recent boards anymore they said. I'll have to see if the other companies do that too because this is bad news for people with a bad case of Versionitis.

Maybe on my next machine I should ditch my PCI sound card for the PCI-e version so I can get an enthusiast board. Otherwise I'd probably would have ended up with the M-Pro or some totally other make.
I could start OC'ing the GPU now though, hopefully that baby still has some headroom waiting to be used.
Not sure about the Power supply. I think it should be enough but as soon as the GPU gets thirsty I'll see. I still have my previous Antec 1kW but don't really want to use that in this build.
