Should I swap out my 360?

Hey gang

Picked up a refurbed 360 from Gamestop a couple months ago. Was the green Halo edition console with a black faceplate. Looks pretty BA. Anyways, I'm using the HDMI port on it (going to my computer monitor), and it always has issues starting up. Like I'll switch my monitor the HDMI input, press the power button on the console, it'll power up, but won't do anything. Just sits there. And when I turn my controller on it just flashes like it's looking for a console. Then I'll try and turn it on with the controller, and the same thing will happen. System will fire up, but nothing loads and the controller continues to flash as if it can't find a console. Then I'll flip thru the inputs again at come back the the HDMI, and power it on with the CD drive and it'll work fine. Then the next time I want to turn it back on, it's the same situation again, but different combinations of trying to turn it on. It's the weirdest thing.. I've plugged it into my TV thru HDMI and it does the same thing. Read around on some other forums and I think it's an issue with the HDMI. I got a 1 year warranty on the console at GameStop, so I still have a lot of time to figure it out. Was just wondering if anyone else has seen this problem and if it actually is a big deal. Cus once I get it turned on right, everything runs fine. No freezing or overheating or red rings or anything.

The controller will not find the console by itself. You will need to synchronize the controller to your 360. (Instructions Here)

Anyway, that Xbox sounds pretty dodgy if what you're saying is true and I would definitely take it in for a replacement.

trade it in -- u probally wont get the halo edition again ...but i bet u know that -- i would look on the back and if it was manufactured less than 3 years ago- -- I would send it to dickrosoft-- tell em it has the 3 rings--rrod-- they get so many to them everyday, they dont have the time to chek em -trust me ive done it -- they will give u a new one -- better than one for lamestop-- any box with 3 red rings is covered for 3 years for manufacture date

Yeah I'm aware. The controller is already sync'd. I've been using it for a couple months on the console. Once everything is powered up, it all runs fine, it's just getting there is the problem.

Hmm. Never thought about that. I'll check the date when I get home. How long does it usually take to get it a console back from them? And yeah I know I won't get the Halo version again, but oh well. I don't even play Halo, just looks kinda cool against my black desk haha.

Ok I was just making sure.

I would definitely get a replacement from gamestop, or you could do as the user a few posts above and send it in to MS for repair if it was produced within the RROD warranty time-frame. I had an Xbox with a dead DVD drive and sent it in for RROD repair (which I admit is dishonest practice but it's a billion dollar company for christ's sake..) and got a new Xbox back which I have since passed on to my brother as I now have a Slim.

The whole RMA process took 5 business days from when I sent in the box to the day I received a new one.

How long did it take you to get the 360 back? And yeah I don't have any moral objections to doing it.. like you said they're a billion dollar company so who cares.
