Well that dell monitor is about $1300 but it is well worth it if your son is doing photo editing. I believe that monitor is actually 25% off right now too at dell.com with a coupon code.

Maybe because I have 4,000 Real USD Cash, that I want it to be perfect gift for my son? Do you have a problem?........ Im not as smart as some of the guys on here. I respect that, and I hope you respect me. I am just trying to get the best computer that my hard earned money can buy for my loving son...

I agree it might take forever, that's why I wanted to buy a pre built computer. But I also wan't to do the relationship thing and build it with him. I understand where you're coming from though. I am probably annoying to you right now, but I'm sorry, I just got addicted to this posting ability, it's fun to interact with computer guys, especially when I need help.

Wow, I wished I had seen this thread sooner.

@OP.... DO NOT get the 980x... if you want six core then get the 1090t. Call me a fanboy if you want, but you will be saving a little over $600 and the performance difference isn't worth the extra $600.

Here is my recommendation (from an expert builder):

Why not?? Plus he doesn't have 4k to spend anymore, he got that monitor. Get the 1090t and an SSD with the rest of the money.

Edit: Did he get the 950? I thought he was looking at the 980x?

With a budget of $4000 going AMD is a joke. Only AMD product the OP would want to use is maybe an ATI graphics card thats it.

No, not a joke...seeing as he doesn't have 4k to spend. I don't see why its such a bad idea?? I believe he is at like $1800 to spend, and he doesn't even have cpu/mobo/ram. He still has to get psu/HDD/possibly SSD, and not to mention Windows 7. I don't think that will fit in a $1.8k with the 980x.

Excellent choice! I also recommended a motherboard and RAM if you want to take a look at them in my post above.

Is the Windows 7 key already in use?
