FAT32 is the best format for a drive that commonly is accessed by both Macs and PCs. They can both read and right to FAT32. Macs don't play as nicely with NTFS, and PCs don't play nice with NFS+.
If this drive is only to be used with the Mac, format it NFS+.
If the drive is to be shared between Macs and PCs, keep it FAT32.
