[5870] Black Screen/100% fan

I have this issue since i got a second 5870, if i try em in xfire or on there own i get the issue. It happens in games randomly (10mins - hours) of gaming.

When the crash happens my monitors go into standby as if theres no signal from the gpu. Sound still plays somtimes and gpu fan spins up to 100%. Sometimes i can just reboot manually, other times i have to reset the cmos

Checked temps,drivers,reseted gpu's. What could be the problem?

Sounds like a driver issue. The cards are running stock speeds? You weren't having this issue until you added the xfire but now that you added xfire you can't get either to work.

Could be a setting in the catalyst control center as well. Is there a way to disable xfire and try with a single card?

Basics first man. Is your PSU connected correctly and did you clear the CMOS after adding the second card?

I 'sometimes' ie, rarely get this issue if I play a game in eyefinity and then switch to extended using a shortcut and play another game.

Yes all's connected correctly, i do use a shortcut to switch between exteneded and mirrored. I only clear the cmos is when i get a crash and try reboot, if it fails the only fix is to clear the cmos.
