Virgin Mobile USA is owned by Sprint...does anyone here have experience with them currently? I haven't used a phone with them in years.

I've been using a VM Intercept for the last month, and while it's my first smartphone, I'm happy enough with it for the price. I rarely make calls, but the reception is better than my AT&T flip phone ever was. The 3g is about on par with my crappy home DSL speed, and with a good kernel and ROM the phone is pretty snappy. Really, for $25/month I have nothing to complain about.

I'm not a sales rep for them. I'm not trying to sell you on a product. Simply stating the facts. VM's coverage is good in some areas and not so good on others. It's the same as sprints though like you said. So just check around and ask if the reception is good in your area. I get 5 bars inside and 6 outside.

I guess so, having a mediocre mid-line to low class Android phone with unlimited phone/text/data by cheating the system and having crappy signal/download speeds....

If you want to be cheap.....

This means absolutely nothing. 5 bars on one phone means 3 on another. It's a completely arbitrary and stupid rating system that is not dependent on anything.

Blunt but true, friedsushi is right. No need for all the cursing you're only making yourself look foolish.

Guide provides a great insight but the legality of it is on the lines of what's allowed on here if you ask me. Needs some better formatting and better use of paragraphs and grammar wouldn't hurt either.

Worthy of a rep point for sure though, maybe this should be in the Deals section of the site rather than the Mobile Phones section.

Nerd rage.

The reson why MetroPCS and Virgin Mobile offer cheap plans like this is because they're hoping to make a profit by selling phones and refill cards. They calculate how much data on average people use, and then figure that they can set a price point of $25 or $50 or whatever.

People like you are why Verizon, AT&T and Sprint have all these rules and regulations, throttling, locking their phones, locking boot loaders, to stop people from free-loading and abusing their network. Why most networks no longer have UNLIMITED DATA. People like you are why we are beginning to have TIERED INTERNET plans. They're just trying to make money.

You'd probably feel perfectly fine spending $25/month and tethering your phone to your laptop, downloading TORRENTS and movies, bypassing their phone service completely, making them less money, and over-loading their network by taking advantage of the unlimited internet.

You're being a cheap-skate, scamming them over and ruining mobile internet for the rest of us.

Virgin Mobiles unlimited actually means 5GB a month. After that they will throttle you or cut you off. I dont plan on tethering. I just dont like being stuck in a contract. I don't want boost so I went with virgin mobile. They have $60 for unlimited everything including talk minutes. I love OCN but I don't like youre attitude on phones fried sushi.
