Just call your ISP and replace it.

wait what??? are you sure it's the modem thats broken? cus it's been working fine for years... this just started happening recently

i called in already and asked about maintenance in my area and they said there's nothing and it's probably a setting in the model/router that needs to be changed?

I don't see what the big deal is. If it's giving you grief, replace it.

Residential modems and gateways are cheap. They run hot and have poor ventilation. Have your ISP replace it with a new unit. Normally free if you're renting it.

If DSL is anything like cable modems, call them up and have them re-provision it. Your modem looks for a config file on the ISP servers everytime your modem powers up. If this file is corrupt, it can cause you to lose connection, hence why you have to cycle your modem every morning.

When I was living at home with the parents, we'd go through a cable modem a year. High use and cheap electronics (along with poor ventilation) would cause them to last a year before burning out.
