My do people dislike Michael Bay? I enjoy his action movies.

I was thinking the exact same thing when I read that. Every game wants to be a "COD-killer." Doesn't take much in my book.

IMO they should wait for 2034 a few years until gpu tech can catch up and be able to run 2033 on a budget. I would be happy to have the same graphics with a storyline and gameplay that didn't entirely suck though.

^ 2nd.

I don't get all the people in this thread saying the game was boring or they couldn't get into it. It probably had the best atmosphere of any game I've ever played. The people felt and looked desperate.

i enjoy them for the thoughtless action, but when i want anything more than that, they do not deliver the goods.

Metro delivered what michael cannot.

It's just like music, movies, books, and anything else you can think of. While alot of it can be different - they've all evolved the same way.

1)Make a temporary "smash-hit"
2)Sales go stale after a month or two
3)Announce sequel
4)rinse/repeat

It's about getting the most bang for a buck in the first few weeks of release, and then aiming to hook people for a second or third or fourth rather than longevity. It's all about product shelf life now. How short lasting (not length necessarily like 8 hour games and things like that but sales wise), yet super sweet, can your product be is the goal it seems.

I hate to bring them up, and people do all the time it kinda peeves me but sometimes it is necessary. Valve and games like Half Life, CS:S, and Gary's Mod are simply amazing and should be staples when it comes to this. Their games still sell to this day and you don't see Valve in any rush to push out a new one. And when they do, they're wrong anyway lol (Valve time). I don't know why but developers don't see the picture alot.

I'm not picking on Metro 2034. The same could be said about alot of games. But I've been mulling this over recently about how music seems to be more about spamming it on the radio for about a month and then pushing out new music the next rather than having an actual lasting hit anymore. It's been like this for awhile but it's getting progressively worse as time goes on I noticed and I can't listen to the radio. Haven't for a year, but when I do I'm disgusted. Then, one thing lead to another, and I noticed how alot of movies and games are the same story.
Honestly - what was the last movie you've seen, other than a comedy which always seem to have a lasting effect as long as you enjoy the movie, that you can see yourself watching 3 or 4 years later because you now consider it classic? I've asked several people this question, and the most popular answer is The Dark Knight it seems but I also know alot of people who didn't enjoy think the movie was as great as everyone insists it is. I agree it's a good movie, but I have to agree with the latter as well in a way.

My 335m plays 2033 just fine on medium. Want to max it out? Buy a $400 video card. Otherwise any $75 budget card should play it fine.

Can't have it both ways. I hear people complain all the time about consoles keeping video games back, but when a game comes out that actually pushes the envelope, it's "the game isn't optimized" which is code speak for "my system is lame"
