Camera recommendations(DSLR and Film)

I'm looking for recommendations for both a DSLR and film camera. I was looking at the D3100 and would like similar specs to it. I also like the full auto of the FM10 but i don't like its cheap construction. i can't spend more than $800 on a DSLR or $600 on a film camera. Lens recommendations would be appreciated as well.

What about the D3100 makes you not want to buy it? I mean, if you like the camera...

Beyond that camera, with Canikon, the Canon T2i/T1i also have similar specs to the D3100.

I'm fine with the D3100 I just didn't know if there was a better camera for the price. Any film camera suggestions anybody?

Okay thanks, so i guess nobody has any recommendations about a film camera?

The T1i and T2i are pretty good cameras too, situated around the same price point as the D3100. They're worth looking at.

Although to be honest, you can't go wrong getting any of these cameras for a DSLR.

if you went with a nikon dslr get an f100 for film
if you went with a canon dslr get an eos 3

just don't buy any lenses designated 'ef-s' from canon or 'dx' from nikon.

If you also want 1080P video, the Canon T2i is great.

What do you mean by better? Any idea what you're going to use it for? (class, travel, computer pics, family, profession, etc)

Certainly the D3100 and the T2i are fine cameras.
But so are some of the EVIL for travel or family pictures and $600 would net you a whole lot more. Check also in the 4/3rds cameras.

You might also think about going back a generation. For example. Pick up a D90 then pick up a D3100 (both Nikon); they feel very different.

Most important thing to do with a camera is to get it into your hand. See if it behaves the way you want it to / your life / your purposes.
