Its a bootable Antivir environment thats updated with new definitions daily, burn to CD or write to thumdrive. Antivir is well respected and has top detection rates.

Scan your boot HDD entirely offline from a ramdisk, bad viruses will persist in safe-mode, they can also hide in the MBR and bootsector. As usual, the safest thing is to format. If you're really unlucky you got a BIOS virus, and that will need reflashing.
