Got the Evga GTX 570HD

Thread Starter
Ok got the new Evga Gtx 570 HD up and running. First things first. The card is about 1 inch smaller than a normal Gtx 570. Its about the exact same size as the new Gtx 560. The fan is also the same size as the Gtx 560. The card itself defaults to 40% fan speed. Its quiet but not super quiet. Idle temp is about 38 in my case, which is well vented and cools my system well. I played BC2 for about an hour, temp was about 65 which is not bad at all. I was playing at 1920x1200 with 16x AF and 2x AA and it was smooth as butter, even during explosions it didn't slow down at all. I would like to slow the fan speed down to about 30% but as of right now the Evga Precision doesn't allow you to lower it below 40%. I am told by people at Evga that in the new verison coming out you will be able to lower to 20% if need be. I do like how short this PCB is, its about 9 1/2 inch which is great. My only concern is the fan. It is a tad to loud for me. But I am a silence freak so I bet for 95% of the people out their it would be fine. Also I think it has to do with the fact that the fan is running at 40%. Once I lower that to 25-30% it should be much more to my liking. I'll report more when I have more time to really dig into this card, sometime this weekend...

I don't like the look of the HD version compared to the other one. I hope I can still buy an older one (unless these ones just OC better) since it would match my overall theme better.

i just bought the hd from evga an hour ago. i am wondering if the 570 hd will support voltage tweaks and higher clocks. the reason i am asking is because i am planning on doing some moderate overclocking on this card and if no voltage tweaks are supported, i might as well stay with the reference. i will be using this card in an haf case and i will add a few more fans. i will also configure the fans so there will be positive pressure to get rid of dust and cooler temps. sorry for not writing in caps, my shift and caps lock keys are broken.

can you take it apart and photograph the PCB so we can see what electronically is different that allows 3 display outputs?

^HD is preferably referring to that fact that there is a full-scale HDMI DisplayPort.

I believe the 570HD still shares the limitation of only 2 monitors at a time when not in SLI.

Correct, nvidia chips only allow two monitors to be driven from a single chip, its an architectural limitation.

yes and that is a downfall but the architecture is almost flawless in my opinion.

Except i cannot even get mine to run two monitors (dell 2410s). Theres an ongoing thread on the evga forums for 580 owners about the issue. Surprise it affects some 570 guys too!

Basically the card can only display an image on one monitor at a time. Swap ports, try hdmi+dvi, dvid+dvid, reinstall drivers and windows 7, play with refresh rates- all fruitless. Absolutely no bios updates for the 570hd too.

UPDATE- I found the "recalled" EVGA 266.77 drivers on guru3d.com and installed them. Dual monitors are now working so far!
