Do you have your OS HD hooked up to the Marvell 9128 6Gb/s port?

If you do that maybe your problem. Some people just can not seem to get the Marvell port to function even when using the latest drivers.

Try the Intel ICH SATA ports and if you want to run AHCI then you need to download and install the latest ICH10R drivers. You should plug it into Port 0 or 1.

Yes, its a SATA 3 drive so I have it plugged into the SATA 3 port. It's worth a shot. Also another update, I went and checked the compatibility of all my apps and I didn't see win7 on the supported list for Nero8 so I took it off and got Nero 10 and I was burning last night, burnt one disk off just fine no problems, then it blue screened burning the next one and after it rebooted I could get the disk out until the whole system was completely shut down and then re powered up. A factor to consider?

No, that's just drive locking. Linux used to be real bad at it, though the worst is OSX. OSX locks the drive in a way that you either have to have an OS eject the disc or do a full power down. It's real freaking annoying too, especially when your just trying to install and test different burns. All OSs do it to an extent though, windows isn't so heavy on it so users really don't notice it.

OK, I have done a load of research all over the place and found out that its definitely hard drive related. Either the drive is dead or it is a problem with drivers. I have installed all my motherboard drivers from the DVD and modem drivers from the CD and Monitor drivers direct from Viewsonic and GPU from nvidia. I don't think drivers are at fault. I don't seem to be able to get a scan done with chkdsk or other HDD tools. I install HDTune Pro and I checked the health tab and I have 3 warnings, they are for "Reallocated Sector count", "Reallocated Event Count" and " Current Pending sector" Are these warnings significant? is there any info on the health page that is helpful in telling whats wrong? if this scan fails again I will be plugging the HDD into the SATA 2 port (don't want to, I don't want it running slower than it should) and try again.

I ran HD Tune pro. I was able to extract some information before it blue screened. The warnings on the health page said that I have unstable sectors and damaged sectors, The scan made it through to 500GBish of 1000 and it reported damaged:
Error at : 490362MB (LBA 1004262235)
490362MB (LBA 1004262363)
490362MB (LBA 1004262491)
490362MB (LBA 1004262619)
490362MB (LBA 1004262747)
490362MB (LBA 1004262875)

Also after reading the section about drivers it said in win7 to run a program called verifier.exe which verifies all drivers installed to find fault in them. It then blue screened during that caused by HIDclass.sys which is the keyboard and mouse isn't it? I will re-download those drivers and replace them. That would not be enough to be causing these faults will it? I suspect from the HD Tune error check that my drive is dead.

I noticed your CPU Clock Drive in the BIOS was off. and the Bus Clock in Mv. Consult your motherboard book for the default settings for these.
I want to say they are like 800mv and 900mv...
If your system is set at that I think you may want to go back to default optimized setting and save it. Then go back in and make all the other changes.
