Rebates are a tricky thing, a lot of people forget to send it in or forget to read the requisite fine print and miss out on the rebate on a technicality. I personally have never not received a rebate when I have followed all the instructions explicitly.

The rest of your system is very high end. Why not get the 2nd GtX 480. Its amazing in SLi, The price is pretty good I got mine with the highflow bracket for 300 so maybe check your craigslist area first.

Go for the 580 you say... Then, in about 2 monthes or so, they'll have the 680... 780... 980... 880... 1080... then what ... I'll have a crap card that I spent $200 more than a gtx 480 on, and they'll be the gtx 1080.

Isn't that how technology works? Thats why your 1. Rich 2. a fool for getting the high-end as soon as its available because something always comes out better the trick is to get the high-end after something comes out thats better, GTX 480 is a prime example. THe gtx580 is not worth the money until the 680 comes out but thats not going to be any time soon.

Some dude on craigslist in the SF Bay Area is selling the EVGA GTX 480 SC Edition for $275. I e-mailed him about it and he would do trades worth a total of $300 if you don't have the cash.

Thats a sick deal, GTX480 is the 8800gtx of today. I love the card. Never goes above 75-80F even overclocked in SLi.
