Custom external WC enclosure idea!

Thread Starter
Hey guys, so, I've drawn up some plans attached that are for a stand alone case I'll fabricate from some sort of acrylic which will hold my radiator, reservoir, pump, and fan controller and sit next to my lian-li pc60. basically i want to use my new WC parts but theyre too big for my lian li and i want to have an external solution for easy maintenance.

im looking for critiques, ideas, advice, etc.

parts involved:

XSPC 360 radiator + 3 gentle typhoon D1225C12B4AP-14 fans
NZXT Sentry LXE touch screen fan controller
MCP655 pump ported with custom g1/4 bitspower barbs by Sidewinder Computers
EK 150 advanced res

inline liquid temp probes? (suggestions needed!)

so what do you guys think?

looks like a good rad box and sounds like you have the right idea, when you gonna start building?
I like the idea and setup. Now lets see you building.*cracks whip* I am going to move my pump to that position under my Res, when I buy my pumptop.

If you wanna add some bling to your setup, look into the Liquid Fusion by Frozen_Q, instead of the EK150. He can do custom orders so you can have ports where you want them.

I have an inline temp probe I bought from FrozenCPU. It is true high flow, as the fitting itself is the temp probe, unlike most temp sensors. Very low profile, and has C/F function. I will find it and post a link.

Use it for your next build lol. Since you only have 2 rep so far, maybe you can scan the wanted threads. People are looking for things like that sometimes.

I have the link for the temp sensor I have, it was at performancepcs. http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=28785

It works perfect for me, my cpu block doesnt like to have 3/4 OD compression fittings on it(unless I turn the plate around, which decreases performance). I am using a 90 fitting, and this as a spacer coming out the block so I can have clearance for the other fitting. They touch but only slightly, perfect.

Only thing I dont like about this sensor, is it is brighter than I like, but I want my case blacked out. Other than that, it looks great and raises at .2F intervals.

Off topic: how hot does your Q6600 get OCed?? I just got one in the mail today, and I am wondering if I should WC it, or just use my cheap spare HSF. Wont know how hot mine runs til I get my PSU back from RMA, dam OCZ.

my q6600 oced nicely to 3.2 no extra voltage on this crappy thermaltake wc loop i was gettin 25 C idle. if your q6600 is a revision G0 it OCs easier/higher. B3 are kinda hot but can OC nonetheless

ok so im gonna get a frozen q res, they are so sexy

heres the added part list:

The FrozenQ res
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/10...tl=g30c97s1110

then for temperature sensing im gonna get 2 delrin t line cubes and these temp probes w/fittings:

so heres the T line
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/55...tl=g30c499s745

and these are the probes going in each:
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/83...tl=g30c101s457

so im thinking of reading the cold temp out from radiator and reading hot temp out from cpu. thats where those blocks will go.

oh and im going to use koolance quick disconnects between the entire external box to the cpu block in my tower. which are these:

the female:
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/11...l=g30c405s1026

and the male:

looks good

although I personally would prefer any of the "extreme flow" compression style quick disconnects listed here (whichever fit the size tubing you plan on using) over the ones you have picked out.

i have no qualms about modifying my order, extreme flow does have a nice ring to it hehe. thx for the update

ok so i bought the frozenq res, danger den delrin t line blocks, temp sensors, and then the high flow QDs suggested earlier. while i wait for that stuff im sourcing my acrylic to choose where and how much im getting.

i have access to a sign shop's cutting hardware too, they have a CAD powered saw so i think im gonna try to use that. now i gotta design a layout in cad

::cue the learning CAD music video montage::

oo btw, im adding to the design a front mounted 140 mm fan located on the front bottom facing inwards to push pair towards the rad so the rear mounted low rpm typhoons in pull get a fresh air supply.
