RAM: 4GB 2000MHz vs. 8GB 1600MHz

Looking to up/downgrade my RAM. I've got 4GB of 2000MHz G.Skill right now. I can get 4GB of 1600MHz for like $45 a pop right now.

I want more RAM, but it costs $85 before tax for a kit of 2000 and I'd have to buy two to replace the one I have now because they don't sell it anymore and then I'd have to sell the stuff I have (though it's being RMA'd so it should return brand new).

Thoughts? Is 2000 that big of a leap over 1600? And I'm not a RAM-OC'er, too finnicky for me.

2000 performance over 1600 will not be noticable. Only on benches, and even then it is very little. I would go for 8GB of 1600 with super tight timing.

2000 memory can allow for easier overclock on the CPU, but not worth it on Q9550.

You had me convinced until the "easier overclock" line. I'm looking to step up my OC eventually, hopefully significantly.

What kind of problems will 1600 give me over 2000?
