How much better is the 70 over the 50 does it justify the extra 40 bucks Im going get the Crosshair IV Modo and the 1090T cpu

Swapping up to the Cross hair i went over my budget but the red colors go with my scheme im going for

I'll deal with it if its a big improvement can you guys give me some detailed insight

It depends on the card you end up with in your hands. Some 6850's overclock extremely well while some don't. As far as I am aware the 6870's have marginal overclock performance. As an example my 6850 is OC'd to 1010/1180, which is about as high as I have seen for a core clock however I have seen people get over 1200 mem clock. At these speeds a 6850 will be almost as fast as a 6870.

On the flip side I'm sure my card would be using more power than a standard 6870 and it is no doubt much louder.

at the price of the 6850, i'd just go for the 6870. there's alot of rebates on newegg right now. you can always crossfire down the road.i think you can get the sapphire 6870 for around $214.
