Good mix of price and performance?

I'm building a computer for a friend however I'm a little worried about either over or under buying for his needs. He wants new computer for running his business off of. From what I gather it will mostly be used for music, internet, and running things like point of sale software.

I was think quad core and 4GB or ram but now I'm thinking that may be a bit too much for his needs and wanted to know your opinions.

P.S. He gave the okay on $600 and he has a monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

Thanks everyone!

For a business computer, longevity is key. 4 gigs of ram a decent motherboard and a 30-40 dollar gpu. Fill in the blanks with what the budget allows, whether it a quad core 955 or a hexacore 1090t. As far as the proc, there is no 'overkill' simply because it will last him longer.

Something along the lines of this good quality parts and should last him a while! add a HD or 2 etc....

Or maybe even an Athlon x4 would do, But for under $500 thats a pretty good system *MIR's*

$100 amd quad
$100 amd motherboard with intigrated graphics
$65 for hard drive
$60 for 4gb ram
$70 for psu
$70 for case, dvd burner, and other stuff you might want
That would put you below $500.
You would be left with $100 to upgrade graphics or do whatever you want. Honestly amd's intigrated graphics are more then enough for most buisness applications.

That looks good except a 460 for a computer that will never play a single game, and a black edition for a computer that will never be overclocked.

Finding a professional looking, quality case, on newegg is harder than I thought it'd be.

This should be enough for a buisness rig. Also btw newegg was out of the $99 athlon ii so I used the $118 version. A little under $400 without operating system using the $99 processor.
