1) There was nothing WRONG with your card from the beginning. So it ran a little warm. That tends to happen when you setup dual GPU configurations.

2) MSI has done absolutely nothing wrong here. You are expecting them to eat the bloated retail price on a card? Especially when you SHOULD have RMA'd through the retailer? It even states that right in their warranty directions.

3) Don't judge MSI based off ONE bad experience. It takes several, SEVERAL bad experiences to sway my vote. This is why I have personally boycotted XFX and Gigabyte. Too many bad experiences (personal and here on the
forum) to count. And 100x worse ones than MSI is giving you.

If your RMA takes 7 MONTHS, because MSI keeps sending you COMPLETELY DEAD cards back (7 times), and it REQUIRES a claim to the BBB and the State
Attorney General, plus a threat to a Small Claims Lawsuit, like I had to do with Gigabyte....THEN you have reason to complain.

As of right now, MSI has done absolutely nothing wrong. And you are honestly
expecting far too much from a manufacturer.

By all means, push for the same or better card, or full refund. I would do the same exact thing, and they will likely cave in on it. I have never EVER had an issue RMA'ing with MSI. Every time I have, it has been a very pleasant experience. Even with an 8800GTS G80 that I RMA'd after the GTX200 series had been out (it was WELL past the time that they should have had any in
stock).

That 6870 was never in crossfire I bought the second card after I sent the first to RMA excepting it to come back in a week or two and have a nice xfire setup.

Also I payed a premium price for that card it doesn't have the reference cooler it was the all acclaimed Twin Frozr II series card. These things do not go over 70 degrees the one I have right now hasn't hit 70 once.

Also this isn't the first time I've seen a bad thread about MSI I see these all the time and people have seen enough now.

When you go nvidia go with EVGA, not only will they take care of you regarding RMA but they'll give you the FULL VALUE of what you paid for your card(s) within 90 days towards an upgrade.

Please dont think im trying to be rude, i just cant understand why you would send a perfectly good card back to mfg when you are still in your 30 days? the card probably only needed a cooler reseat. Its not uncommon for vga's to run excessively hot right out of the box. these companies use insane amounts of thermal compound when they install the heatsinks.

Look, either tell them that you are willing to wait for a restock of the particular video card, or swallow your pride and take the $205 refund they offered you. And please take this as a lesson learned. ALWAYS send it back to the retailer if you in your 30 days.
exactly why should he take a $60 hit? msi should, there the ones who cannot follow through with there warranty, he did nothing wrong. OP tell them, either the same model 6870 or the next best video card(gtx 570). make them really eat it for this crap they are pulling.

he also, according to warranty, has a right to refuse refund and they have to send him an atleast comparable card if not better. at that point they have to give him a 6870 twin, 6950, 6970 or 570/580. The warranty is there to protect the consumer too, not just the manufacturer.
