Yes it's the OP's fault that MSI won't honor their warranty.

Yes, Newegg's customer service > MSI's customer service (this time), but does that mean OP is to blame?

OP, just get on the phone to MSI nonstop. It worked for me. It might take a month or two, but just stay cool and you'll prevail.

I've had good experiences with MSI's RMA dept, and I have RMA'ed from all of the major companies. Until I can see proof of OP's setup, I don't know if I will believe it was a faulty card. The temp of the "faulty" card has been slowly going up from 80-90, to now 90*C+. Obviously putting any card in SLI/Xfire will raise the temps of the card(s), and I still have no proof of cable management and case setup from OP. If the card HIT (read: while stressing/heavy load) in the mid 80's, so? That is fine.

Besides that, I have absolutely no idea why someone would RMA back to manufacturer within 30 days. Theres a reason retailers do that--so you get the value you "JUST" paid. Regardless whether you just paid 269.99 for the card or not--MSI probably made and shipped that card months ago. I wouldn't expect them to give you all of your money back, because they aren't in control of the retail prices of the card.

Having said that, they should (and will--from my experience) replace your card with an equal or comparable one. If they refuse, hold your ground and demand it--you'll get it. You rightfully should. Don't take the cash unless you were planning to sell the card anyways. Maybe you can work something out where they can apply the $205 towards a new card at manufacturer's cost and you toss in a little for an upgrade. Everyone jumping on the "**** MSI suxzzz211@!" bandwagon are a bit premature. MSI hasn't actually denied or screwed him over, yet...

Finally to OP: A few have said to get on the phone with MSI--and I agree. You seem to be ignoring this or not commenting on it. E-Mail is too easy to ignore/reply to once a day/etc, and you have to remember the volume of e-mail will be significantly higher due to its ease. It is really hard to ignore an upset customer on the phone blowing your phone lines up. Stop being shy and call them. If you want to get ***** done, be as personal as possible with their reps. Nobody wants to be personally responsible for denying you or having to face up to it, and I'll say it again: e-mail is way too easy to ignore/blow off.

Hope it ends up working out for you

Is it possible you can wait until the card comes back and is available or are they refusing to do that?

Op said it was not in crossfire at the time, and that his other card never reaches 70C, but that one goes to 90C.

Although the fact that eVGA gave me hell over 2 screws for the High Airflow Bracket got me pissed. Had to jump through hoops taking humongous pictures of 2 cent screws so that they could see that they were indeed stripped and that I wasn't trying to get 2 free screws. -_-

Might give ASUS a try next time.
I personally will never buy asus again after how they handled my mobo rma
tech support was extremely rude, not that knowledgeable imo, and wait times take forever
Then they tried to tell me vdroop is caused by a bad psu not lack of LLC....

^ this!

it's as if some people are claiming the op should be punished because he "didnt follow the rules" Like that actually means anything

MSI accepted the RMA, they should honor it properly

Newegg is only 30 days. They will refuse to take the card back even one day past 30. I tried this last month and they would not back down on it. My card had to go to Sapphire.

So? He Said. He could be overlooking something that others might realize right away (Wiring, airflow, fan setups, lots of things). I wouldn't put it past people to fudge the facts a little in their favor, either. Not that this OP is--but would it surprise anyone if someone didn't represent things perfectly accurately in order to RMA?

yes he vastly changed his setup from one card to the other and it was soooooo horrible it meant 30C in temps difference.

I have the gigabyte Windforce x3 6870 and with one card sitting ontop of the other in crossfire i dont hit anywhere near 70C and our 2 cooling solutions are pretty close.

We can only take things at face value. he says so we have to beleive UNLESS we have any proof...which you dont. saying he rma'd a perfectly good card(that you have never seen, or tested) is stupid. HE is the judge of that. I am so tired of people on overclock.net acting like they know more about peoples situations then they do. HE had a problem, therfore he RMA'd. It really dosnt matter as MSI had to have found some problem otherwise they would have sent him his card back...didnt think of that now did ya? He could have RMA'd it because he didnt like the color. All they would do is send it back when it was tested good, but since they are not...there has got to be some type of problem. Point is, stop trying to be a back seat driver, your not helping anyone.

^Truth, that's like you asking me what color your shirt is and I say a color different from what you're wearing and when you say I'm wrong I insult you saying it's right.
