mATX Gaming Rig, budget of ~$700 - Page 3

I usually don't recommend 4+1 phases for overclocking any 125W processor - not because of the heat, but because the unstable power delivery may cause more voltage fluctuations & vDroop and may issue preventions on overclocking, especially at ~1.45V and above where most people OC to (this may not have been as apparent with you at just 1.4V)

My suggestion:
Phenom II x4 925 + Xigmatek GAIA SD-1283 - $143
ASUS M4A78LT-M - $70 shipped (Click on "13 new from $67.23" for this price) [Amazon]
2x2GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3-1600 CL9 + Corsair HX-650 - $145, $120 AR ($25, $15 AR RAM!)
Galaxy GTX 460 1GB - $185, $145 AR [TigerDirect]
Samsung F3 500GB - $45 shipped
Windows 7 home premium - $95 [Combo deal loophole]
Total cost before rebates: $683
After rebates: $618
it supports 140w. i ran the same board with a 965 at 3.8 for over a year. being's he not going to be overclocking it will be fine. the 4+1 phase is not a problem for all boards.

Remaining with the stock cooler on a 125W processor so mosfets get some airflow and with no overclocking it should be fine then. The ASUS is of quality, low RDS and no areas appear to be cheaped out.

Well right now I'm in between the i3 build or xd's build.

sorry for the bump but, 650w enough for SLI 460s? might go with an i5 processor since work is picking up a little and i can add a little more to the budget

650watts is more then enough if you get a high quality supply like corsair.

i just built a matx lan box the other day and absolutely love it. the specs are in my sig. i don't know if you live close to a micro center, but i was able to get everything (minus the monitor, keyboard, mouse, and os) for $580 including tax. my goal was to be able to play bc2 (the most resource hungry game i play) at around 60fps at 1920x1080. i've been playing bc2 non-stop for 2 days on this lanbox and it runs great! i was able to save a ton of money getting a bundle deal on an amd processor.

here is a link to my build: http://www.overclock.net/small-form-...nbox-pics.html

honestly, you do not need an intel i3 or greater nor do you need sli 460's. the new 560 ti's are very impressive, especially the gigabyte soc that comes stock at 1ghz, and the msi twin frozr like the one i have.

yeah, i was going to get either corsair or seasonic.

so, one 560 is better than SLI 460 1GB?
