Safe Limits i7-950 OC - Page 3

Ok, when testing a new clock, this is what I do. (worked for me so far)
Soon as you boot up, run realtemp. Watch those temps!
Once your system is fully set up, run prime95, run small FFTS.

Run it for 10minutes (use your watch)

Report the hottest reported heat during it (it will be on realtemp down the bottom)

IF it goes over 90 for some weird reason, stop the small FFTs.

if it reports back any errors, say so.

Go into your bios, go to BCLK, change this to "180"
Go to CPU ratio, multiplier, how ever its listed, change to "20"
Go to cpu voltage, change this to 1.16250v.

Leave everything else on auto.

Report back (:

Thats 3.6Ghz, and the settings I use, you can use all numbers of setups, aslong as bclk x multplier = 3600, you have 3.6ghz, to change to 4.14 I use 23 x 180

You may find, for your batch, even though the processor is the same, that different numbers work for you, In general, intel likes odd numbers, so 21 23 19, and 181 etc.

Im currently running smallFFTS on stock, after 10mins max temp is 83.

Now yes 84 is hot, but small FFTS will push further than any everyday use (bar folding)

Playing games you shouldn't see over 60.

Ok, hotter temps today.

I ran for 11minutes, max temp was 86 degrees.

It also tests stability, with overclocking, to much voltage, not enough, slow ram, fast ram... all this can stop a overclock from being stable.

So we push it to its max, with a stress test. If its stable, no worries that it may die fast or something, unstable though, means you may get trouble

Dw about the BSOD, i got it 100+ times finding a stable overclock

When you click Small ffts, it should make 8 windows (1 per core)And have "testing........." in it.

Does it not ?

If you got bsod, go into bios, go 2 all the voltages, and increase each by 0.1v.
Not 1 volt. but 0.1
\\
Except cpu, change that to 1.2

Lower than mine

Bad for me, good for you.
