Universal AC Adapter suggestions

Thread Starter
I need a decent universal AC adapter that is compatible with most brands possible. I need a 90W because I sometimes deal with such PCs, and I'd prefer it to have both AC and DC inputs so I can use it in my car. It should have a way to get more tips, and I'd prefer them to be self-adjusting for voltage. I'd like to spend under $50. Does anyone have recommendations? Thanks.

I have been using a "no name" brand for several years with great results. It's a 90w and has 9 tips with it. It doesn't have a tip for the newer HP and Dell models though. Plus it's not self-adjusting, but it's pretty easy to just move a switch to the right voltage.

Thanks for the tip. I would like to drag it around to test random laptops that don't have AC adapters, which is why it's important to have a lot of different tips so I can use the laptops, DC input (but I have an inverter which I can use), and self-adjusting voltage (I can adjust it myself but if I constantly have to be looking at the voltage specs on the laptops I know I'll kick myself). How much did you pay for your no-name?

The one I've liked best so far is the Cooler Master NA90. It's pretty cheap, decent quality, is compatible with a lot of computers, and has automatic voltage adjustment. It only doesn't have a car adapter or a way to get new tips.

I can ship them out for $30 with priority mail shipping. Switching voltages isn't really that bad. A majority of laptops run at 19V anyways so you may find that you won't have to switch it around much. This does cover a lot of laptops like I said, but those new bigger plugs aren't covered, like this tip:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Car-Charger-DC-a...item5642295cd7
However that is kinda interesting? I wonder if that tip would work with my charger?? I've never really looked into it much before until now and I think I need to order one of those to see if it works!! Pretty sweet when you help yourself while trying to help another person!
I'll have to check out that Cooler Master one you mention too. Maybe I can get a good price on those? Back to the big tip though. Some Dells have an octagon thing going on with some of there chargers so those have always been problematic for me. Generally for the big tip ones for HPs and Dells, I just get a cheap $10 knock off at eBay for my testing in my home office.
