Keep Nexus one or Upgrade?

Thread Starter
So I'm on a family plan on ATT with the rest of my fam and we're eligible for upgrades. I bought a nexus one back in may and absolutely love it. I see that ATT has the Motorola Atrix 4g coming out in march and they have the Inspire 4g coming out this weekend. Those are the only two phones I see as upgrades to my nexus that are offered by ATT. I'm going to take the upgrade opportunity to get a discounted phone regardless of whether I will use it or not so I'm wondering if you guys think I should grab a new phone and sell my nexus or if I should just buy a new phone with discount and sell it/keep my nexus?

I would absolutely keep the Nexus One, especially since it's getting bone stock Gingerbread soon (hopefully). I would advise against the Inspire 4G, as it's just an American Desire HD...yawn.

If you absolutey want a new phone, I say the Atrix. But I wouldn't want to trade a Nexus for that.

What do you mean soon? Hasn't it been out for a while now?

Honestly the Atrix isn't that much of an upgrade over the Nexus One. Its dual core, but that doesn't mean anything on a smartphone (at least not now). The Nexus One will still actually beat the Atrix in a number of benchmarks.

I'm not even sure why we're seeing this big push for more power. The only benefit I see is in gaming, and the Atrix doesn't even have any buttons...

Plus Motorola + ATT = Don't expect a root anytime soon. And don't expect software updates either. The Atrix is stuck on Froyo and will probably still be by the time Ice Cream comes out, which it will probably never receive.

So the consensus seems to be to keep the Nexus, which is how I was originally leaning. Now the question becomes what phone should I buy with my upgrade discount that I can sell for the most money if I choose to go that route?

I don't know. Phones don't usually sell at their original cost. Example, Samsung Galaxy S Epic phones were going for 400. It cost 250 on contract at release. I wouldn't want to sign a new 2 year contract and only get 150 dollar profit from it.

My advice is to save your upgrade and see what news phones are going to be announced next week.

I am in the same boat as you and have decided to keep it. There is really nothing it can not do. Except gimmicky video chats.

I am running CM7 Gingerbread on it. OC'd rock solid carry multiple batteries with me really nothing more i could want in a phone. Maybe when nexus 2 comes out or phone

Dual Core chip, 8mb rear camera front camera 4.0in Super Oled screen i will jump over. Nexus S could have been that but it wasn't. Main turn off for me is the plastic design. I don't like it, same reason i don't like captivate 3gs, etc.
