Think I can farther? - Page 2

I tried to add voltage to the ram only, then NB only, then both but the stupid rounding error keeps popping up after 3-10min of running. I've tried loosening the timings back to where my mobo set them by default and nothing. Even backed my FSB back to 200 and still failing. Definitely think I have a bad stick. I'll try running memtest86 and try to narrow it down.

For the clock, I went all the way to 18 and back up to 20 messing with the FSB and stuff and the 20x202 seems to be the highest stable. I'm happy with it as long as I can get this ram issue under control.

After several more tinkering's I can't figure out why only Core #1 is getting this issue and Core #0 will run for hours without fault. Has this happend to anyone before?

I tried memtest86 but it kept freezing on me. Even tried new CD and lowered the CPU clock to make sure. It freezes about 2sec into the program at 5% on test 0. ESC and C prompts don't respond either. What in the hell is going on with this thing......?

Well i was looking at the specs for the board you have. If it has a 750 southbridge, I belive the bios may be flashable to something that would give you core calibration options. If you update the bios to the newest version, it should have the "ACC" menu in the bios. I've done a little reading about your board and found that some users had them shipped to them with very out of date bioses. Check to see what bios you have, Any board with SB710 or better should support the unlocking feature!
Good Luck

I do have the 750SB. I will try an update on BIOS. I have the ACC but it says disabled, should I try and enable it? I've tried to read up on the ACC but it's confusing a hell to what it actually does and if it does or does not hinder OCing. What's your opinion on it?

You say all 710 and 750SB's have the unlock feature, where do I find this? I looked everywhere in BIOS but nothing jumps out at me as to anything being an unlocker. If say 4 unlocked cores isn't stable is there a way to only enable 3?

Thanks again for the help.

Answered my own question, found ACC enables the unlocking.

After BIOS update I still fail prime95 on core#1. What's the safe voltage range for the CPU NB?

I tried to unlock cores on auto, manual 1,2,3,4; 1,2,3; 1,2,4; 1,3,4; 1&4 and all failed (no post). Weird thing is 1&3 work just fine and CPUZ says Phenom II x4, 11.5 multi at 2.3ghz with a 1.3vcore. Tried upping the vcore and doing 1,2,3 but it wont post. Anything I can do to unlock that 3rd core so it will post?

Found the max CPU/NB volt to be around 1.3.

I think I have it stable for the most part now. I ran prime for 30min so far and it's looking good. 19.5x206 HT & CPU/NB at 2060, Vcore 1.5125, CPU/NB volt 1.225, DRAM volt on auto. 93.77watts, 43*c, 40*c on cores, 32*c on board.

After I find a stable 24hr clock on prime would it be ok to raise the NB freq or will it cause more problems? I read raising it will make it a bit more snappy.

RAM Speed X 3.33 = NB Speed

1333 / 2 (D.ouble D.ata R.ate) = 666.5

666.5 x 3.33 = 2219

So, to fully exploit 1333 RAM, you need the NB around 2200MHz.

Use MaxxMEM to see the before and after differences, you will be quite pleased.

NB should be as high as possible actually. 3000Mhz for me would make worlds of a difference over 1600Mhz.

Whats 1600 got to do with anything?

Unless I'm missing something, his NB should be at or near 2GHz atm.

Whoops, meant 2400Mhz there should've been worded like tihs:
NB should be as high as possible actually. 3000Mhz for me makes worlds of a difference over 2400Mhz, even at just 1600Mhz RAM.
I guess the 2AM stay-ups are getting to my head I'm going to get some sleep.
