You get far better minimum fram rate, which is most important and you don't have to deal with the CF 5800s driver which they never fixed

Go gtx480s if you can find them on Craigslist or online. ONly 300 bucks and I "Upgraded" from a 5970 to 1gtx480 and was way happier. I got a 2nd GTX480 and nothing is slow.

GTX 580 against AMD 5970 won 5 out of 11 benchmarks. Is $100 less and less power consumption. It's better than an AMD 5870. However both cards can handle todays games so either is going to be great.

Nvidia has Physx and Cuda, handles two monitors. AMD has their way around rendering Physx and handles three. Go with what suits your needs better.

Basically cf of 5870's performing worser than single 5870 in games, despite higher FPS figures.
