AMD noob, have a look please. :)

Hello all.

I'm building a PC for my cousin.

I already got the components lined up, I just want to make sure from you AMD experts if it will all work well.

Motherboard: Asus M4N75TD
CPU: x6 1055T
RAM: Transcend Jetram 2x4GB DDR3 1333 (I read 4 sticks running at 1333 could be problematic, so went with 2x4GB sticks, he insisted on having 8GB)
PSU: Corsair CX500 (according to a PSU calculator this system will only need 380W, so leaves some room for extra HDDs etc.)
GPU: Inno3D GTX 460 1GB
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1.5TB
Case: Waiting for him to pick one.

There won't be any overclocking involved.

Thoughts?

I also thought when I bought my computer "I won't overclock at all". Now, a couple of months later I'm dying to get the parts I need to OC.

So in that case he should rather buy 1600mhz RAM so IF he wants EVER to OC he can.
1333mhz RAM aren't good for OC, they act like a barrier.-

Especially for 1055T, due to the way the bus clock + 1055T overclocking works, 1600Mhz is the best for a 1055T if you want to OC to 4Ghz and over. Definitely always stick with a minimum 1600Mhz (or quality 1333 CL7) kit for a 1055T. Even if you're not overclocking, 1600Mhz kits usually provide better performance and value anyway than any generic 1333 kits... 2x4GB may be an exception though. Most generic 2x4GB kits are priced a lot lower since 4GB generic DIMMs often use worse ICs than others and really just won't overclock that well (since 4GB DIMM ICs were only recently at their infancy). I highly recommend you step up the RAM to 1600Mhz especially with the 1055T; that is up to you, but with 1333Mhz and a 1055T (as well as 4GB DIMMs) you may most certainly be held back.

At the moment I can't find a 2x4GB 1600Mhz set below $85-90.

Thanks for the input guys. I talked to him and he says he won't be overclocking. Ever.

Looked at the cost as well and the 1600s are a bit much. So is that the only concern with this build? xD

Decided on a case as well. Coolermaster USP 100.

What about ATi gpu? It should scale well with the 1055T.

Best price for performance I could find was a GTX 460. It was that or a 5770.

Sadly there is no such thing as a ATi GPU. Only AMD.. hey! a match!

What are you talking about? Aren't the AMD GPUs "ATI Radeon" cards..

And even look at your picture under your name

In that price category the 460 will perform MUCH better than the 5770 in almost all aspects (heat being the only exception) , Especially if he plans to ever game with dx11 tessellation.
However like the others suggested... b\please purchase some decent ram. Off brand ram can cause more hassle than it's worth. Stick with companies like G-Skill, Corsair, Kingston (hynix chiped only), mushkin, or adata for use w/ AMD systems. Also since your purchasing a "new" phenom II the enhanced stepping eliminates the worry for only using 2x sticks of ram... they handle 4 sticks just fine (again be sure to purchase quality name branded ram)
