CPU and GPU calculations

Thread Starter
Hi OCN'ers.

I'm currently running the latest boinc client on a PhenomII X4 @4.0ghz.
And i'm trying to outrun my brother with both total score and recent average credit on Rosetta@Home. I know GPU calculations aren't possible (yet) for Rosetta, But what could i possibly do to increase my score faster with this computer?

I might have missed a link, but to be honest i couldn't find anything that details exactly what hardware would be best and why. what software would be best and why, and what i could do to further increase my score.

I thank you all in advance;)

First of all. Don't do anything else with your computer, just let it run Rosetta@Home and nothing else.

2nd, OC higher since you have water cooling.

3rd, does your motherboard have onboard video? If so, use that, remove your GPU so your PC consumes less power, so you can last longer in terms of electric bills

Thanks for the info, i might do that:)
However, OCing higher is not an option, after 4ghz it becomes unsteady:(

the 3 best projects for your gpu are Dnetc, milkyway, and collatz conjecture.

un-nefer is correct with your 5850, I believe that if you are running only 1 video card milkyway is the way to go, they produce the fastest wu to crunch with a gpu but if you have problems with them not giving you enough gpu work units then dnetc is the way to go. so milkyway first because they are the best but you have to watch if your machine is finicky then dentc.

P.S. welcome to ocn

Really? I thought GPUGrid gives a lot more credit than DNETC, especially if you complete workunits within 24 hours.
