Can you look over my build?

I'm building a computer for a friend, and want to make sure everything will work great or if you have suggestions on something better for same price.

Case: Cooler Master Storm Scout - $90
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119196

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 945 - $135
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-675-_-Product

Mobo: ASUS AM3 AMD 790GX - $120
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131366

Memory: G.Skill 4GB DDR3 1333 - $47
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231180

Hard Drive: WD Caviar Black 500gb - $60
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136320

GPU: XFX Radeon HD 6850 1gb - $180
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-505-_-Product

Optical Drive: ASUS 24x - $19
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827135204

PSU: Silverstone DA700 700W - $100
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817256035

TOTAL - $751 USD

I think that's everything. I'm not too sure about the motherboard. Any input would be really appreciated. I want to keep it in the $700-$800 range.

Thanks!

EDIT: I have not purchased anything yet.

for the combined prcie of your CPU and mobo you proboably could have got a 2500K and a H67 mobo or a lower end P67 you would have seen a huge performnce boost. and instead of a HD 6850 you should have got your self somthing like a GTX 460.

Edit: In terms of case i would probably have chosen a CM 690 II Advanced.

Edit: th PSU is a good one, would have gone with the same also for this sort of build.

Edit: if you can aford it try and splash out a little extra for 1600MHz memory i compard my 1600 MHz memory with my mates 1333MHz kit the other day and there was a hughe difference.

Caviar Balck is a great HDD cant go wrong with that.

The 2500K cpu seems to be unavailable to purchase. I haven't kept up with the latest gen of video cards, is the gtx 460 worth the extra $20 in performance?

Have you already purchased?

If not consider this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.593267
It is a 95W C3 phenom. Slower stock clock speed, but should clock just as well as that 945 (or better). Also comes with a heatsink in the combo.

Also, there are some good deals on ram over the next 2 days:
15% off all desktop ram with promo code DM15A02US
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220436 $29.25 shipped after $10 mir

The HDD you picked is fine, but for the same money you could have this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822152173
It's so little!

Overall, it is a solid list. GTX460 for GPU seems to be better. Similar performance at lower price. See this link. If you plan to OC, should consider DDR3 1600 and a better cooler.

Also, two other options.

1. If you can wait until April, then 2500K and a midrange board should fit in this price range.
2. If you can purchase from tigerdirect, with latest promo code, you can have x6 1055 with a 980 board.

If the 2500K gives me a significant power boost without the whole build going over $800.

This is for a friend who knows nothing about the internal components of a computer so he won't be overclocking.

If he doesn't OC, then it is fine. Regarding 2500K and 945, here is a link shown some numbers. That's raw power at stock. The gap will be even widen once 2500K OC. He can have a 2300/2400. Hope this helps.

Like already pointed out, getting a 460 would be a better choice for the video card.

Even the basic is better than the storm scout.

Wow that is a gap. If I go with an x6 1055 what motherboard should I get that will keep this all under $800?
