Cool Radiators with waters instead of fans?

Ok guys here is a crazy and maybe stupid idea that came to my mind. Instead of cooling the radiators with noisy fans, what if I place them inside a small aquarium? Would it work?

^ This. It will work great for a few minutes but then the aquarium will start to warm up. You would have awesome cooling for 5 or 10 minutes though.

Why not just have all of that liquid be coolant? Why transfer heat from the cpu to water, and then from water to water? Why not just make all that water coolant?

I remember seeing some lunatic with a 55 gallon drum full of distilled water on some other forum. The entire thing was his reservoir. He claimed awesome temps. I think the amount of water was so massive that it had tons of heat capacity. The fact that the barrel is metal still let it radiate off the heat.

Obviously a radiator is much smaller than a 55 gallon drum...

Well I am thinking off dropping a small bottle of iced water inside just to keep the water cool. What do you think?

What about freezing the aquarium with a small spot for your rad? Should get a day out of it

Several problems with this.
Do you freeze the radiator in the water itself? If so, then you need to freeze it with no fluid in the radiator (or use antifreeze). Also how do you keep the ice from crushing the radiator ?
Where do you freeze the aquarium? Do you have a freezer big enough, and if so, once you freeze it, how do you get it from the freezer to the computer (that is if the aquarium does not crack, which it probably would).
Then once the ice starts to melt, how do you keep cold water around the radiator, their is not any way to circulate it, so you would end up with higher temps.

Why not just put ice cubes in the aquarium?

I don't see the logic in cooling the cpu with water, then cooling that water with slightly colder water and then cooling that water with cooler water...

You still aren't providing a means to dissipate the heat. All you are doing is adding more heat capacity to the system.

Me thinks you need to study a little thermodynamics...

Used a decent sized trash can filled with distilled ice/water. Ran my rig for about 4 hrs before temps began to change much. The thermal capacity of the water just needs to exceed your rig for the time.

It was largely impractical and a one time deal.
