Having trouble assigning mx518 buttons for Battlefield

Thread Starter
Hi guys

Would someone be able to lend me a hand setting up my new mx518 mouse. I am trying to setup some of the mouse buttons in battlefield but not having much luck. I have just un-installed the setpoint app that came with the mouse so all i now have is the driver that windows installed.

I have tried setting my reload key to be the top (+) button on the mosue which is normally the button to increase the dpi setting, i select the mouse column in the on foot setting in battlefield and click the button i would like but nothing seems to happen apart from it pops up saying i have already asigned the the x axis to move left etc whenever i move the mouse slightly

Any ideas how to get around this? im sure i have proberly missed a simple step but cant seem to figure it out at all

Thanks a million

Those buttons still change the DPI even with the drivers uninstalled so that's probably why you cant bind them to anything.

It's quite possible that they designed those buttons not to be able to be bound as actual keys. I know the Razer Mamba's DPI + - keys can be re-bound through the software as other keys and buttons on the keyboard. But if that is the case then there's nothing you can do about it.

I was able to bind reload to one of the side buttons. Just make sure you don't move the mouse while doing it. You might have to use the button column too.

Try assigning the buttons to "Generic Button 1" for left click in SetPoint. "Generic Button 2" for right click. "Generic Button 3" for the scroll wheel etc. Some of the buttons have to be assigned keystrokes because you run out of "Generic Button X" where x is the button number. Sorry if this doesn't make sense, but I had the same problem just last night with my new G500. I ended up assigning keys to the buttons in SetPoint and then assigning those keys to the actions in the game.

you can reassign the thumb buttons, but thats it.

The reason why it only works with setpoint or the mouse software in general.

A HID Mouse in Windows is only specified with up to 5 buttons, scroll up/down and tilt (scroll wheel left/righ), for everything else the game would have to specifically support the MX518 or any other mouse.

Just installed version 6 of setpoint, didnt change any buttons within the setpoint settings yet but this time when i went into the battlefield settings i was able to assign the 2 side buttons to what i wanted but still could not assign the document flip button to anything. I tried changing the document flip button in setpoint to a macro key which i used just the letter Q which is the spot command in battlefield. When i tried again setting this button in battlefield it still would not come up i thought assigning it a keyboard letter might do the trick but it does not frown.gif
