Build me a system from Canada - Page 2

Here is one I built pretty quick so you may be able to save some money if you tweak it a bit.
Features:

Sata III
USB 3.0
DX11
6 Core AMD
H70 cooling

Just add a $20 dvd drive and it should come out to less than $950 before taxes.

I don't advise the CPU coolers with radiators. I have one, and while it's great, I had to modify the case a little to make it fit. I had to move the side 250mm fan to the outside of the case (which works fine, but doesn't look as great) in order to make room for the radiator.

If you're willing to modify the fan placement on the side of the case then go with the cpu radiator/fan combo. Otherwise stick with a traditional air-cooled cpu cooler.

It's important you get a cpu cooler that blows up from the cpu for this particular case because it can vent straight out that massive 250mm side fan on the Xclio case If you don't go with this cooler make sure you get something similar that blows "up"

The cpu fan in this build comes with Noctua thermal paste...I've always used Arctic Silver 5 but from what I've read the Noctua is just as good.

Links:
Hard Drive (6GB/s, nothing special but if it's for gaming you won't need a ton of space)

Mobo (I have this same one, fits all my needs and I haven't had any issues):

Optical Drive:

Video Card (MSI is great for overclocking, plus the utility MSI Afterburner makes it very easy to overclock):
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16814127545

PSU (If you plan on doing Crossfire you'll need a PSU this size, otherwise save some money and get a good 600 watt for about $100):
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16817171049

Memory:
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16820231275

CPU:
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16819103808

CPU Cooler:
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16835608020

total Cost is: CAN$945.92 without shipping.

If you absolutely can't go over budget use the stock CPU cooler for now and add a different one later. That'll knock off $110.99.

I know very little about Nvidia, but I play battlefield bad company 2 on full settings at 1680 x 1050 and experience zero problems with my MSI 6870.

Thats pretty awesome is it possible to unlock those quads to a hexacore? and how easy would the overclock to 4GHz be on that mobo.

I have the same mobo running a Phenom 970 and had it to 4.3 GHz. Watch your temps but you should be able to run 4GHz with good tweaking. A nice feature with that mobo is that it will auto overclock to a stable frequency if you enable it (my auto overclock bumped it to 3.8).

No it is not possible to unlock cores on this chip.

You could try this: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16819103846 Which is known to unlock to an x4. this will save you a good chunk of monies

ok is the 955 comparable to lets say an i7 870 if both were oc'ed to the same speed? or is the operations per clock cycle thing come into question?? Actually how big of a frame difference do u think id noticed between the 955 at 4.0ghz the 1090T at 4.0ghz and the i7 920 at 4.0ghz?

My buddy has a non overclocked i7 930 and in a CINEBENCH comparison I scored slightly lower than his:

If you want i7 performance out of an AMD you'll have to get a 6 core. the i7 has 4 cores and 8 threads where as an AMD does not do hyper-threading. But for gaming, imho, put the money into the graphics card not the CPU.
