6950 shader unlock safe?

hay everyone
wondering how safe the shader unlock is on the 6950, has anyone had any problems after some time of having the unlock, worried about performin the shader unlock as i dont know if there is any long term damage caused from unlocking the shaders...
I got my card back from RMA today, so i was wondering whats the best 6970 bios to use, and how effective is the shader unlcock, also does the shader unluck up my GPU speed and its ram? thanks a bunch

If you are worried about doing it, then don't do it.
If not, then grow some nads and try it out.
They have dual BIOS anyways, if you mess up, you can always use the switch.

Some people are concerned with memory clocks/voltage, and then turn around and overclock it anyway...

Personally, at 1440x900 you really won't notice the difference from unlocking it or not.

As you seem to be in the 69XX club, why not ask in there? From what I have seen here and on the net, it's been smooth sailing.

Why are you gonna waste your money on watercooling, Just spend around 115 on a HAF932 or 922 so you can have good cooling. I never understood why people on a budget waste money on watercooling...Makes no sense.Unless you live in Africa where its super hot and ambient temps never go below 90F.

Unlocking shaders and flashing to 6970 bios are two different things.
Cards are too new to have long term damage data, however hundreds if not thousands of owners have successfully unlock shaders or flashed a 6950.

Been running the pants of my cards that are 6970 flashed with OC for 2 months now. No problems at all so I don't believe there will be any.

Read up plenty and make sure your comfortable with any mod. It virtually impossible to brick your card, but there are some very capable people on OCN that were able to do just that.
