Help getting 1055T to 4Ghz (cuts out when starting prime95)

Thread Starter
Hey Guys,

I am trying to overclock my Phenom II X6 1055T to 4GHz or over.

Any help will be brilliant, I no the basics of overclocking and have tryed using some known combo's off the 1055T owners club list.

Once I start a stress test with Prime 95 the computer cuts out and restarts.

I have added the necessary voltage and followed the guides, but the motherboard I am using is not as easy as my old board.

Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair IV Extreme
RAM: Corsair Dominator 1600MHz (8GB)

Please post any help, or remote assistance over LogMeIn would be greatly appreciated !

Kirk Watson.

I tryed changing the settings to:

14x 4.20GHz , NB freq: 2.40GHz , vCore 1.55v, vNB 1.38v , memory 1600Mhz, FSB 300

On the : Asus Crosshair IV Extreme Board with Watercooling.

Also: Am I right in thinking that the vCore is the CPU voltage?

In my Bios options I have different Voltage options which are confusing.. I have:

CPU Voltage
CPU/NB Voltage

CPU VDDA Voltage
DRAM Voltage
HT Voltage
NB Voltage
NB 1.8V Voltage
SB Voltage
VDDR Voltage
VDDPCIE Voltage

I changed the two which are highlighted to accord with the settings I try to set at the start of this post.

Thanks for replying..

Kirk.

I think your NB freq is too high. try dropping it down a tad. Vcore is cpu voltage yes. 1.55v is the MAX for that chip and 1.5v should get you to 4 ghz no problem.

Are you trying for 4.0 GHz, or 4.2 GHz? Your settings say 4.2. You might try just for 4.0 first, since I can't hit 4.2 stably with my 1055T, also at 1.55v. Your CPU-NB frequency isn't too high by any means; I have mine at 3000 MHz. You might up your ram voltage to 1.6, since some kits have issues running at 1600 MHz right at spec on AMD platforms.

CPU-NB voltage at least 1.4V is not safe and will kill your mobo, wow.

CPU-NB voltage should be about 1.2 up to about 1.25

NB voltage can go UP TO 1.4., not over.

OP do you have LLC, CnQ or anything like that still enabled in your bios?

Oh and you are overvolting the hell out of your CPU that's why it won't boot.

Asus crosshair 4 is the BEST AND EASIEST mobo to OC x6's with I know from experience, so don't get down about your board.

CPU-NB is different from the NB. CPU-NB is part of the CPU, and is safe up to 1.55v (though most run below that for various reasons). Running above 1.4 CPU-NB won't kill your mobo. You're thinking of NB here..
