It's called marketing, and I hate it
Who knows - maybe we will see some comparison screenshots of DX9/10 vs DX11 in Dragon Age 2, maybe not.
That's what I thought too, so I looked at the sources, which get into much more detail.
As we're still working on the DirectX 11 features, there's no set date when we know we'll be able to release screenshots. I'd expect that to be sometime in February.
About the general discussion on what features we'll be supporting - Dragon Age 2 will be taking a somewhat different approach than previous DirectX 11 games. We're primarily looking into more advanced lighting and shadowing effects that will better show off the existing base art and improve the atmosphere of the game (i.e. spell effects going off in darker cave levels should be more impactful). We'll be complementing that main feature with other smaller scale technical features including screen space ambient occlusion, soft particles, tessellated terrain.
There's no way that's weasel words for "it's compatible with DX11 hardware".
What I want to know is if ME3 will have DX11. It would be pretty pathetic if Bioware's own engine supports DX11, and UE3.5 can't do it. Considering Epic doesn't do a whole lot other than license their engine (UE3 is their main product), and Bioware makes engines, and great games.
