New Build - Red Mem Light, Help Please! - Page 2

I also tried using the auto overclocking feature, which did automatically change the speed setting to just over 1600, but when I stuck the 2 other sticks of RAM in I get the exact same problem.
Go back to optimized defaults. Go into to advanced and try using X.M.P.

If it is a no go, use manual then select 1600 from the memory drop down and check your timings to make sure they match the memory specs. Also check your memory voltage.

What a PITA! I bet you have spend a lot of time trying to get it to work right.

Hah, yeah, I've spent ages trying to get it to work.
Plus I accidentally put my finger into the chassis fan on my old PC a few minutes ago and one of the blades went under my nail and now it's bleeding like a stuck pig!

Anyway, I'll try using the optimized defaults and XMP.
The timing and voltage have been correct from default (9-9-9-24, 1.5v).

I just tried resetting to optimal defaults, and turning on XMP. When I did it automatically showed my RAM speed as 1600MHz, and the timing were all still correct, but I still get the red light of death, even after trying the MemOK! button and waiting for it to stop flashing and rebooting.

I thought I would try and install the software from the CD, just in case that helped, but still nothing.

The only thing I have noticed is that with 4 sticks of RAM, the PC turns on, then off, then back on again, before hanging on the MemOK light.
With 2 sticks of RAM, it just boots normally.

Sorry for posting multiple times in a row, but I took some pictures of the BIOS settings, and I wondered if anyone could look at them and see if I'm doing anything wrong?

Before I look at the pics, which I am doing next, If you only use 2 sticks, can you boot if they are placed in slots 3 and 4?

Is OC Tuner enabled?

My memory does not like X.M.P Mode, but it is supposed to work. Did you try manual mode? I do not see anything abnormal in the pics.

If slot 3 and 4 do not work when you stick 2 chips in them, I would think it would be a board or bios problem.

If it does work, you should try alternating sets of 2 memory sticks to see if any of the sticks are bad.

No, like I said before, I tried all 4 sticks in the first slot, one after the other, and they all boot fine, so it's not the RAM. As soon as I put a stick in the 3rd slot (B1 isn't it?) I get the Red Light of Dooooom. If I try putting 2 sticks in, 1 in A1 and 1 in B1, I still get the Red Light.

I have tried with OC Tuner enabled and disabled.
I also just tried manually inputting the settings. Most of them were already correct, but it still didn't work.

Here are some more pictures of the BIOS, anything out of the ordinary here?

http://img9.imageshack.us/i/dscf1952cropped.jpg/

Edit: I also just tried using slot B1 on it's own, and still got the red light.

I have not used 4 sticks before. Let me shut mine down and stick one in slot 3 and see if I can boot.

I hope some other folks in here can help you resolve this. You may even want to try Asus support.

Thanks for trying
I have sent an email to Asus, and requested an RMA from Aria, but neither have been back to me yet.
