New Build - Red Mem Light, Help Please! - Page 3

Ok, on page 2-5 of the user guide it has the slot names. A1, A2, B1, B2, which I know you know lol.

When I stick 1 stick into B1, I get the same characteristics you explained. MemOk light solid, reboots on it's own, then solid again. I hold the MemOK button and it does exactly what you said. Blinks, reboots, blinks, then solid again....

Man, I wish I had 4 sticks. I just wanted to see if I got the same results when I tried to use B1 or B2.

Clear CMOS

Boot with 2 sticks into bios.

Turn on OC Tuner. Reboot.

Set AI Overclock Tuner to Manual.

Select DDR3 1600 for memory speed.

Change the clocks and voltage to 9-9-9-24 2t and 1.5v.

Reboot. Shut down. Put all 4 in. Power on. PRAY!

The only time I get that is when I use XMP mode. I have used manual ever since and I have no issues anymore.

Did you know that you are supposed to put the sticks in a1 and b1 or a2 and b2? Not both in a's or b's. That is why they are color coded and match. I think the way you have it is not dual channel.

I did as you suggested BWG, but no luck.
The OC Tuner gave me these settings with 2 sticks of RAM (in A1 and A2):
BCLK: 103
By All Cores: 42
Memory Frequency: DDR3-1648MHz
Voltage: 1.506V

CPU Speed: 3427MHz

I rebooted, turned off the PC, then installed the other 2 sticks in, but straight away got the red light.

If I put RAM in A2 and B2, as sugested in the manual, I get the red light
RAM in B1 and B2 also gives me the red light.

Dang.. The white towell has been tossed in.

BCLK should be 100 but the fact that you can boot with A1 and A2 or B1 and B2 and not a DUal Channel config seems like somethin is going on with the board. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Hmmmmm, possibly another problem has arisen.
I have been using the new PC normally, thinking that if I do have to replace the motherboard, it will be a like-for-like replacement, so I can go ahead and start installing things onto the hard drives and there won't be any hardware conflicts when it comes time to swap them out.

Weeell, this morning, I turned on the computer as normal, 2 sticks of RAM in, and I get the red light problem. A quick press of the MemOK! button, and it's working again, but this is going to get annoying if I have to pull out the case, open it up and press a button each time I want to use the computer.

Anyway, I'll try using the optimized defaults and XMP.
The timing and voltage have been correct from default (9-9-9-24, 1.5v).
haha your blood, sweat, and tears literally going into this build! sorry but couldnt resist hope you get it going!

Although the slots are different, it does sound very similar to my problem.
I am just waiting for Aria to get back to me with a RMA number so I can send it off.

People on that thread you linked were concerned that they might not get a replacement until the new version comes out. I wonder if Aria would consider an alternative make/model if they don't have the Pro in stock. If so, would you recommend a different board?

I am also tempted to ask Aria for a tube of good quality thermal paste as compensation, seeing as how my CPU cooler came with paste already applied, but when I remove it to return the motherboard it will muck up the paste.
