New Build - Red Mem Light, Help Please! - Page 4

bro I went through a similar issue, only the the ram was not the problem, it was the constant red light on the cpu and also where the q connector slots in I think there might be a problem there. I had enough and came to the conclusion that the mobo is messed up. There are a lot of threads on the asus forum regarding these f****ing errors and a lot have ended up with rma. I personnaly never had any problems with asus mobos in the past but if I did go with a different brand it would be gigabyte. Anyways I hope you get it working, I just rma'ed mine and getting a like for like replacement.

Well, Aria has finally got back to me with an RMA number, so I'll be sending it off today. Let's hope I manage to avoid all their draconian rules about packaging etc.

Also ASUS got back to me today, and surprise surprise, they haven't even read the message I sent to them. In it, I specifically mentioned that I have updated to the latest BIOS. Their suggestion? Update to the latest BIOS.

That's the thing, they didn't say.
I thought the idea with the Distance Selling Regulations was that if there is a fault, it's the job of the seller to prove it was my fault, not for them to just become the judge and tell me it's my fault, then send the item back to me and charge me postage for the trouble.

I have sent them an email asking for more of an explanation, and why they think it's my fault and not theirs, but I suspect it won't be answered.

Considering I spent over £800 with them, and if this plays out how I think it will, I'll be out of pocket for over £120, I'm tempted to pack everything back up and tell them I was a full refund of all the items.

This is why I stopped buying online! I will drive the hour and 15 minutes to Micro Center just to have in person service and returns.

Pin damage...? Did you only RMA the board?

I RMA'd the board and everything that came with it.
the only other thing I can think of that might have to do with pin damage is that small adaptor for putting all the case plugs into, then plugging into the motherboard. The pins were so weak they bent slightly when I tried to use it, so I didn't bother and just plugged them straight into the motherboard, with no issues.

I have contacted another website that deals with the Distance Selling Regulations, and consumer info in general, in the hopes I can get some help, but if anyone here knows my rights I would really appreciate any guidance you could give.

I am getting very annoyed now.
I just received this email:

Quote:
The pin damage is in reference to the pins in the CPU socket. There is damage to the CPU socket, which unfortunately voids the warranty on this item. The pins in the CPU socket are very fragile and if out of alignment can cause the system to not work or cause erratic behaviour such as certain memory channels not working.

This item will be returned to you today for delivery tomorrow.
The CPU worked perfectly fine before I sent it to them. I have contacted Consumer Direct, and hopefully they will pass this case on to Trading Standards. I am not going to be scammed out of £150 by these shysters!
