But killing your CPU on purpose isn't the fault of the manufacturer.

I am pretty sure the OP means DOA CPU's in which case I haven't ever seen one.

I thought I fried my Phenom 9850, only to realize down the road when I upgraded to AM3 platform all I needed to do was reset the Cmos. It made me sad because I de-lidded it... violently.....

Edit: I've never come across a CPU that was dead though.

People on here forgot to realize how hard overclocking is on a system. It really stresses the northbridge and/or IMC practically destroying the motherboard in the process.

I pretty much run everything at stock now or close to it because I don't feel right RMAing something every other week like some people do because they feel a 950 should run a 4.4 24/7 for some reason:confused:

In the end most people don't care about your overclock unless your setting a world record, so just save an overclocking profile in your BIOS and use it when you really need it (gaming, encoding) instead of running a 4.4 GHZ internet machine.

Wow I totally want to be your friend.

My mentor (friend) got a DoA AMD 1090t once. But I'm pretty sure it was one that was RMA'ed or something because the box and the chip looked like they had the crap beaten out of them.
