VLC is so crap for video quality it's laughable.
I tried tweaking the settings. There was no option to show all of the artists and songs all at once in one list view that is sortable via columns. I find Winamp has the best function and style. It has everything Foobar has (that I could see) and more.

VLC is crap for video?? How so? It's pretty much the only player in existence (that I've come across anyways) that plays nearly every single format out there with ease. It does have its hiccups and random crashes, but I don't see a problem with its video quality. What do you use?

i've got my winamp for years now. after reading this thread, i tried to get a taste of foobar2000 to see what it's like. foobar turns out to be a bloatware IMO: 6k of memory from winamp as opposed to 20k memory hog from foobar.

Thread Starter
now i gotta rep everyone. holy smokes.

cheers for the input.

What do you guys mean by foobar being customized? Is this for GUI customization or for audio performance settings? Is there presets for rock music on foobar? I can't seem to find it...

foobar2k is one of the most functional music players, but its not particularly good looking "out of the box" or user friendly if you're looking to get the most out of it

All you have to do is click on the artist in the album list view and it's there on another screen. Not hard.

I use MadVR + Reclock with MPC-HC. MadVR is complatible with Zoom Player and KMPlayer. It's not the player as such that matters, but what image processing algorithm the player uses. VLC is laughable. Also file compatibility (although tbh, it isn't really an issue these days unless you have ultra proprietary stuff) is not the same as image quality.

I just use WMP with the .flac filter and wmptag for metadata. Took some time to do, but I loved WMP layout too much to change.

I've used Jetaudio for years and I haven't had a reason to use anything else. It handles everything VLC does and with a lot more functionality. It has a built in converter and trimmer, too.
